HOW NOT TO KILL A HELLHOUND is Sebbie and Corbin's story in the Hellhounds of Paradise Falls universe from Shannon Mae. A sweet man surrounded by death and the mate that will protect him no matter what.
From the blurb:
Sebbie
Life’s pretty good. I love my job, I feed the crows in my yard, and I have some awesome friends. Sure, I was kidnapped by a cult recently, but my friends rescued me, so no harm done. And, okay, people do tend to die around me, but I work in a hospital. That’s normal… right? Death isn’t scary anyway—it’s just another beginning. Unfortunately, most guys I date don’t see it that way. My love life has been pretty empty, but I just met someone new. He’s ridiculously cute and even likes crows. I just hope he’s not scared off when he learns about my job.
Corbin
I take great satisfaction in removing hellbound souls from the world—especially the ones who prey on the weak. With my pack and my familiar, Crow, at my side, life is steady and peaceful. At least, it was until Sebbie. The cute, bubbly man is far more than he realizes, and he’s about to turn everything upside down. There’s just one little problem: he doesn’t know the supernatural exists… or that he’s a supernatural being. I want to help him harness his powers, but there’s a catch—if I’m not careful, Sebbie might end up killing me in the process.
Tags: Crows hold grudges; Death is actually cheerful; Corbin’s as obsessed with shiny things as his birds; The pack shows up to create chaos; Thea is determined to be Sebbie’s new bestie; Jude doesn’t get arrested (or maybe he does?); there’s torture and death (but only of really bad people); hellhounds have tails, and they know how to use them.
Molly Otto's review:
Its time for Sebbie to figure out who he is with the help of Corbin & Crow. Sebbie doesn't understand his bad luck or why people keep passing in his presence. Corbin sees why and slowly and gently helps him come to his truths and shows him he no longer will be alone. These two are everything I was hoping from them and more, they have an undying bond and shows us hope for their relationship and how well they were suited to be together. With a family that sticks by you no matter what and shows what is like to be there and love unconditionally. Truly an amazing piece of writing with this family ever growing keeps you on your toes for Jude and his sheriff to accept and be together.
SNik's review:
Sixth in series (Hellhounds of Paradise Falls), best if read in order. Paranormal. Mates. Found family. Dual POV. Heed content warnings.
Sebbie thinks it's bad luck when people die around him but there’s something more to his existence than he realizes. Corbin is waiting for his mate to realize his supernatural side exists and to reveal Corbin and his family are hellhounds, but he doesn’t mind waiting.
Sebbie is everything sunshiney and sweet and Corbin is so dedicated and supportive. I really appreciated that they spent time getting to know each other and had a slow build to their relationship. Especially loved when Sebbie learns about all things supernatural there is such an easy acceptance which was so fun to read. The different aspects of Sebbie’s nature was intriguing and the backstory heartfelt. The found family in the series is still strong in this book, and that really helps with the ease in which Sebbie becomes part of the pack.
