CHASE HOOPER LIKES IT HOT is an opposites attract small town romance. I've been very excited for Chase and Cash's story since the start of this series, and Chase's book is more explosive than what I thought it would be.
From the blurb:
Chase Hooper doesn’t like people, apart from his housemates and his twin brother Cash. He especially doesn’t like the hot guy who stops by Goose Run Gas in the middle of every night to interrupt his nap and tell him how terrible his coffee is.
Lee Torres is a baker, and the best and worst part of his morning is when he stops at the gas station for coffee. The coffee is awful, but the guy serving it is kind of cute, even if he’s blatantly hostile. Still, something keeps Lee coming back for more, and it’s certainly not the stale pastries.
When Chase and Lee are thrown together working at Goose Run’s newest entrepreneurial venture, it’s a chance for both of them to get what they need. For Chase, it means no more night shifts. For Lee, it means running his own bakery. They can both keep it professional, right?
Wrong.
Sparks fly, and things are getting heated in the kitchen, but if Lee thinks he's going to be allowed past the protective walls that Chase has spent a lifetime building, he can think again. Because Chase Hooper doesn’t do feelings.
If they’re not careful, this could be a recipe for disaster.
Welcome to Goose Run, a small town full of quirky characters, big personalities, and unexpected romances. Just don't ask about the goose.
Molly Otto's review:
Going into the third installment of the Goose Run series, you got a feeling Chase & Cash did not have an easy childhood. Oh boy, you are not prepared for the lengths these two will go to protect one another. That is their default and it's understandable it takes a special person like Lee to work past these ever-strong barriers. Lee isn't sure what to think of Chase Hooper but cannot help but be drawn to this angry kitten of a man. Slowly these two build a relationship, yes they make mistakes, but who doesn't? Yet, with these mistakes they grow each time and that is why you feel the hope of them building something lasting. They have an undeniable chemistry that brings them together in the beginning but it's their bond that in the end keeps them together. The found family aspect of this series is what will keep having you come for more, their bonds and love for one another is a magical thing to see and you feel how much each of these characters needs the other, even when they aren't always the best at expressing those feelings. With Cash's story on the horizon, I cannot wait to see how not only Cash, but Chase handles him finding someone to help slay his demons.
Angel's review:
I always knew Chase's story was going to be full of angst and anger, and I was right. He is a bundle of sarcastic barbs, insults, and at times misplaced anger, but there's more to him beneath the surface. That's what Lee gradually learned as he got to know the bitter barista, Chase Cooper is more than the remarks he makes when he lashes out, he's a man that's been abused and who has learned not to trust anyone except his brother. In this book though, overtime, we get to see Chase finally realize that it's okay to trust his family, not his biological one, but his chosen family, and I LOVED that level of character growth!
Look, I think Lee and Chase are a fantastic couple. I think their dynamic is interesting and while it might not be a situation that would work for everyone, it works for them, and that's what counts. My favorite part in this whole book was finally discovering why Chase and Cash are the way they are. After two books of them being mentioned but no further information, we finally got more insight into where they came from, and how they survived.
The moment where Chase and Cash argued about broke my heart but it needed to happen. That was the pivotal moment in this book, and that moment is where this book took a turn for the better. It's when Chase had to face some tough realizations and accept that he does have feelings and most importantly, he's allowed to feel them.
I thought this book was really amazing, I absolutely love this series. It's wholesome, full of playfulness and comedy, while also touching on realistic and relatable topics, all of those things come together to create a really fantastic series! I can't wait to read Cash's book, I am so intrigued by him!
