Love At Frost Sight (The Charlie Novak Christmas Collection) by Charlie Novak

LOVE AT FROST SIGHT is an opposites attract dancing pro and former boy band member holiday romance. Nico and Toby bring the light sweetness to falling in love during the holidays.

From the blurb:

Sometimes Love Catches You Out Of Step

Convincing my agent to sign me up for the Come Dancing With Me Christmas special was the best decision I’ve made in years, especially when my partner turns out to be the show’s stunning ‘bad boy’, Nico.

I’m ready to put on my sequins and my dancing shoes, but first I need to figure out how to defrost Nico’s attitude towards me. He seems under the impression that as an ex-boyband superstar I’m going to be a diva, and not even some homemade gingerbread is helping!

But the more hours we spend together in training, the more we begin to connect. Nico might be prickly but he’s the first person who begins to see me as more than my past. And as things heat up on and off the dancefloor, I realise I don’t want to let Nico go.

Our connection is only supposed to be temporary, but can we find a way to make it last forever?

Molly Otto's review:

Another holiday season is on the horizon and our next member of Underground Dreaming is about to meet his match. Toby wants to dance on COME DANCING WITH ME to try something new now that the band has been done for four years, he feels it's time to try something new. Nico to say the least isn't excited to be paired with a former boy band member who doesn't' know how to really dance or doesn't have to work at anything. Toby being Toby wants to break down Nicos walls and at least form a friendship. When both men let their walls down maybe for the first time, they get their chance at something real. These two are adorable together and just make the other soar. Loved the cameos of the Underground Dreaming boys, and their undying support for one another even with each taking such different paths post band days. Another beautiful addition to the low angst holiday line up I have come to look forward to from Charlie with each holiday season.

SNik's review:

Holiday standalone. Quick read. Slow burn. Dual POV.

Former boyband member and current songwriter Toby would love nothing more than to be on the popular dance competition show Come Dancing with Me. But getting paired with the frosty bad boy cast member Nico makes it even better. Nico isn’t sure what to expect from the ultra famous Toby, but a sweet, lonely man that brings him biscuits was not it.

This story was so cute and thankfully with no angst so it was easy to enjoy the slow build of Nico and Toby getting to know each other as they train together. I enjoyed the simmering attraction, the time spent getting to know each other, and the equal desire to be together even if they don’t have the future figured out. Both Nico and Toby were likable and surrounded by the nicest of supportive secondary characters. A nice holiday themed read with two characters to root for in competition and falling in love.

Angel's review:

I haven't read very many Charlie Novak books but the ones I have read I've enjoyed, I can add this one to that list as well. I've never read a book quite like this one before.

I've read about MC's having a dancing profession before but it's usually ballet, I haven't read one about one quite like Nico before. I want to applaud Charlie for describing all the intricacies of Nico and Toby dancing as well as the process behind them getting filmed for the TV show. I love when an author provides intricate details and describe things in a realistic way, and Charlie definitely achieved that. It felt as though I was pulled into this book with how detailed the writing was.

The MC's themselves were absolutely dynamite! Toby and Nico started off a bit rocky but with time, and cookies, they grew closer during their time together. I liked the slow burn that occurred between them, I thought their relationship developed naturally and didn't feel forced or rush. Even though these characters have only known each other for a month, it doesn't feel rushed, or short. It just feels right, which is impressive that Charlie was able to convey such emotion and a deep intensity between their MC's in a shorter time frame.

I really enjoyed reading this book, I loved all the details even though I have no idea how to dance, my favorite part though was them bonding over cookies, that sounds perfect to me! All in all, a truly fantastic book!

Heather's Review:

My mom is obsessed with Dancing with the Stars and talks about it constantly, so I had some idea about what to expect from Nico and Toby's foray into celebrity dancing competitions, but Charlie Novak brought the behind the scenes nuance to life!   I appreciated the attention to detail and the way their relationship grew both inside and outside their practices...

This book merged slow burn with unwrapping the layers of each man's personality and really brought home the tension and the attraction.  I also truly loved the side characters and the cookie storyline!
