FULL TILT is part of the LOVE THE GAME multi author sport universe. Meeting a new tattoo artist is like torture for Camden who doesn't let anyone close, but there's something unique and special about Brent that makes Camden want to trust him and build on their the undeniable attraction.
From the blurb:
Camden Crawford knows how to take a hit.
As the thirtysomething captain of the Exeter Seagulls, he’s built a career on strength, silence, and shielding his emotions as ruthlessly as he does his teammates. But when an injury rocks his team—and a series of frustrating media storms threaten to unravel his legacy—Cam finds himself one mistake away from losing everything he’s worked for. The last thing he needs is a distraction.
Enter Brent Parks: sunshine in tattooed skin, newly settled in Exeter, and a little too perceptive for Cam’s comfort.
Brent came to England chasing purpose. What he didn’t expect was a brooding rugby player with eyes like winter and walls like stone. But the chemistry? Immediate. Irresistible. And very, very mutual. Brent isn’t afraid to get under Camden’s skin—and he’s definitely not afraid to stay there.
When a one-time tattoo consult turns into stolen kisses, slow mornings, and a summer of something that feels a lot like more, both men are forced to face the truth: Falling for each other wasn’t in the game plan—and neither is what happens when the spotlight turns on their relationship.
With mounting pressure, cross-continental tours, and past insecurities clawing their way to the surface, Camden has to decide if love is a risk he’s finally ready to take. And Brent? He’s ready to prove that he’s not just a distraction—he’s the reason to stay.
A swoony, slow-burn MM sports romance full of banter, bruises, and unexpected tenderness. Featuring: grumpy/sunshine vibes, emotional intimacy, found family, a meddling little brother, and the hottest “oops, I sent you a sex tape by accident” moment in romance.
Molly Otto's review:
Camden & Brent are in a study of slow burn romance of two opposite men learning to open and trust each other. Camden having been burned in the past, finds it hard to open to anyone let alone a new American. He is your quintessential grumpy lead who just needs the right person to accept him for who he is to allow is softer side to show. Brent has that steadfast energy of allowing Camden to slowly open, to show that he in fact can be trusted and it is not just an act to get with him and leave. Becca has done a beautiful job in building the anticipation of being together built from a spark of attraction to something that can be lasting. Their romance did not feel forced just gently allowing it to land as it was meant to. For a sports aspect of the story, I thoroughly enjoyed the balance of sports knowledge intertwined with these two finding their way. With a brilliant cast of side characters I am looking forward to trying other authors involved in this multi author series to see if they have same magic of this story.
SNik's review:
Part of a multi-author series (Love the Game), but can be read as a standalone. Grumpy/sunshine. Dual POV.
Camden doesn’t like people in his personal space, he plays rugby professionally and has been scarred by interactions with the press so much so he hesitates to trust anyone to get close. Introduced to his possible new tattoo client, Brent can see how closed off Camden is, but that doesn’t stop the attraction or his desire to see behind Camden’s formidable walls.
This is a beautifully written story, with Brent being such a wonderful character in his ability to be super insightful, he is able to read Camden’s moods and fears in a really special way. Camden is afraid but also desperate to let Brent in, their attraction and the ease of being around Brent is so hopeful. These two are so good together, I enjoyed every moment they were on page together, the way they communicated honestly, and especially the sweetness of their push and pull of giving each other space but also providing comfort and closeness when needed. A really enjoyable romance with likable characters and a sweet relationship, I only wish we found out how/if their friend Lachie recovered.
