Remember Whit? Cora Rose's first book in this series has now come full circle with Whit's POV in Caleb. Two very different men that fall into a unique and unexpected relationship that neither wants to lose.
From the blurb:
I don’t let anyone in… I can’t afford to. But he’s the first person who makes me want to try.
My new roommate, Caleb, breezes into my life like unexpected sunshine lighting up the darkness. My secrets and sharp edges are built to keep people out.
But when he wraps his warm body around mine—needy and trusting—something in me cracks open and unfurls.
And the deeper Caleb sinks into my chest, the more I know I should push him away before he sees too much.
Before it’s too late. Because in the end, I know the truth will break us both.
SNik's review:
Tenth in series (Unexpected), this is Whit’s POV of the same romance in the first book (Whit) in the series. Roommates. Opposites attract. Found family. Single POV. Heed content warnings.
Whit is looking for a roommate to annoy his parents and he plans to keep himself aloof from the straight and affable Caleb. But he certainly doesn’t anticipate Caleb’s closeness and neediness scraping against his self control.
This story shows Whit unable to fight against the pull he feels towards Caleb, going against everything he should be doing in order to be there for Caleb and give in to the secret joy they experience. The heat builds quickly, the desperate yearning Whit feels for Caleb is expressed vividly, and his erratic behavior towards Caleb is still inexplicable but sweet. I really enjoyed the golden retriever that embraces his person and the more quiet but unwilling to let go vibe that Caleb and Whit demonstrate. Do you have to have read “Whit” to enjoy this story - no - but if you want to experience both sides of this intense relationship then circle back to the very beginning.
Caleb is currently available as an e-book and can be read as part of your Kindle Unlimited Subscription
