Who would've thought Peter of all people would find himself falling for a human?
From the blurb:
As a vampire, Peter has had his life together for several hundred years. He’s a lawyer, and he’s good at it. Not a lot of things will faze him, but every now and then, something does.
Theo’s life is finally his own again. He’s back at university, back at his job as a sex worker, and he can breathe easier than he was able to in the relationship he escaped from.
When his first client turns out to be a vampiric lawyer though, Theo’s heart starts racing with memories from his past. And that kind of thing is just what will faze Peter…
Content warning: Vampire in Love discusses an abusive relationship in the character’s past.
Angel's review:
Peter first got introduced as a side character in Siren in Love, in that book he was the person Mike went to for knowledge about subjects he didn't know much about. They might not say it but they are most definitely friends at this point, I mean, they survived a zombie apocalypse together.
Now this book is all about Peter! We get to see firsthand what he likes, dislikes, his passions, and his true thoughts on various things going on around him. Like how he would love to plan Mike and Corvin's wedding but doesn't want to intrude, or how at times he wishes he chose a different career. Most importantly, we get firsthand knowledge about how he feels about a certain human.
I liked this story and I'm glad that Peter got his own HEA after all this time, maybe soon he'll be able to plan his own wedding. I thought the writing was good, sometimes when I was reading Peter's POV I felt as he came off as a bit cold, but I think that's because he's more prim and proper. He talks in a regal and elegant way, and that definitely comes across when reading scenes in his perspective. (Which is not a negative thing, just an observation.) I thought the angst was handled well and I really enjoyed how the conflict was written. It was drawn out but in a good way, it left you wondering what Bernard was going to do next, and whether or not Peter was going to win their battle.
Overall I enjoyed reading Peter and Theo's romance story and I'm glad they have each other. I'm also glad that Theo gave Peter a chance because he was a bit reluctant to at the beginning. (Rightfully so.) I'm excited to read the next book in this fun PNR series!
Vampire in Love is currently available as an e-book and paperback
