Hooked on You (EMS Station 1) by K. Evan Coles; Narrated by Kevin Earlywine

HOOKED ON YOU a slow burn yarn shop owner and paramedic romance.

From the blurb:

What’s a straight guy to do when he falls for his new friend?

Paramedic Connor Devlin is a stressed-out tower of a man. Hoping knitting will help him unwind, he visits a local craft shop, where he’s overwhelmed by the yarn selection but more so by his feelings for shop owner Judah.

Judah Bissel is tired of falling for unavailable men. He can’t help his crush on Connor, though, or wanting to get closer to the big, gentle bear. And that just might spell trouble because pining for straight guys is not Judah’s style.

As a blizzard pummels the city, the men hunker down together to wait out the storm. When the spark between them ignites, will the revelation that Connor feels more than friendship for Judah bring them together or tear them apart?

Hooked On You is a 72.8K friends-to-lovers MM novel. It features a stressed-out paramedic who’s figuring out he’s not quite straight, a yarn shop owner with a bad habit of falling for unavailable guys, lots of knitting and snowdrifts, and a sweet, happy-sigh HEA.

Molly Otto's review:

Kevin Earlywine does a beautiful job in bringing Connor and Judah to life. He did an excellent job in differentiating between the main characters, and you never leave the story by being lost on whose talking.

A beautifully slower paced romance that just is chill and draws you in for a nice easy read. Connor & Judah have a relaxed dynamic in Connor, realizing that he is attracted to Judah. Judah allows him to come terms with his sexuality in not pressuring him but allowing it to move at the right pace for Connor to be comfortable. This is one of those refreshing reads that is needed in the queer romance community when you are looking for something relaxing to sit back and read. This was my first read from this author, and I don't have plans on it being my last.

Lesetiger's review:

Hooked on You is the first book by this author that I have read, or in this case, listened to. It is a nearly anxiety-free love story that develops very slowly. Connor is a paramedic who is overworked and suffers from an anxiety disorder. A colleague suggests that he take up knitting. He already knows what he wants to make. At the local craft store, he is overwhelmed by the selection, but luckily the owner, Judah, is there to offer advice and assistance.

There is relatively little drama, but Connor and Judah spend a lot of time together, and when they get stuck together in a snowstorm, Connor questions his sexuality. As I said, the story is slow burn.

I found both characters likable; they are both very supportive and make mistakes from time to time, which is absolutely human and I liked that.

There were also some of the supporting characters who were designed to be multi-layered.

Kevin Earlywines narrated the audiobook well. At first, I found his voice a bit whiny, but that went away. His pace was quite pleasant, but a few ups and downs wouldn't have hurt the narrative, as it was sometimes a bit difficult to distinguish between the protagonists.
