In the midst of planning to start their own family, a local fertility doctor is embroiled in a scandal and turns up dead. As Royce investigates, Sawyer worries whether all his daydreams of their soon-to-be expanding family might falter.
From the The Paternity Puzzle blurb:
Royce Locke and Sawyer Key are back and better than ever with new mysteries and hilarious shenanigans as they tackle their greatest challenge yet: fatherhood.
A perfect holiday weekend takes a twisted turn when Royce investigates a suspicious death involving Dr. Jean Claude Matisse, a retired pioneer in fertility medicine. What first looks like an accidental overdose quickly turns into something more sinister when explosive allegations reveal hundreds of reasons why someone would want the doctor dead.
This investigation hits close to home, exposing the vulnerabilities of relying on science and a doctor’s ethics to have a family, especially when the hopeful husbands are only a positive pregnancy test away from parenthood.
The Paternity Puzzle is book one in the Felonies and Fatherhood trilogy, the third story arc for Royce Locke and Sawyer Key. ** New readers should start with the Zero Hour and Matrimony and Mayhem trilogies before reading Felonies and Fatherhood. ** The Paternity Puzzle continues Royce and Sawyer’s happily ever after as they move into the most anticipated phase of their lives. Though some storylines span the trilogy, this book does not end in a cliffhanger. Heat, humor, heart, and homicide abound. You have been warned. 18+
SNik's review:
First in series (Sawyer and Royce: Felonies and Fatherhood), a spin-off series. Established couple. Dual POV.
Police detectives and husbands, Sawyer and Royce are trying to move into the next phase of their lives by building a family. A fertility doctor’s death right in the midst of their own family planning is only a coincidence as Royce investigates and Sawyer frets about the future.
Honestly, I couldn’t be happier than returning to Savannah and one of my all-time favorite couples, seeing them so happy and still so enamored with each other is beyond swoony. They are still surrounded by family and friends, and the steamy interactions have possibly gotten even more steamy? An overarching plotline for this series glimmers, and I hope it won’t cause too much turmoil for this main duo. Royce and Sawyer still feel familiar, still have the banter, and I’m looking forward to seeing more of their future in this new series. A really fun read.
