From the Reasons To Love A Nerd Like Me blurb:
Scotty Williams is the nerdiest 17-year-old at Havensdale College - and proud of it. However being a nerd can have its downsides, particularly when you're constantly being targeted by the school bully Taylor Raven and his cronies. As Scotty tries to navigate his final college years with the aid of his best friend Olive, he also finds himself on the radar of the mysterious and intimidating Vincent Hunter, toughest guy in the Sixth Form. Is Vincent really as bad as he seems? Will Scotty's darkest secret ever be revealed? Can he ever just finish his last few college years in peace? But most importantly... will any guy ever find the reasons to love a nerd like him?

High School Romance••Single POV with a Dual POV in the epilogue••Nerd/Bad boy pairing••Opposites Attract
This author is new to me and when I saw the blurb for this book I needed to read it. This just sounded too good to pass up, and I was so pleasantly surprised by this book and the writing! As I was reading this story I kept thinking to myself, "this is the more angstier version of Heartstopper with a twist." And now that I've finished this book, I still think that. This is such a sweet story with realistic characters who are vulnerable and dealing with a lot but are determined to improve their situations.
Both Vincent and Scotty have dealt with a lot of grief at the hands of their classmates. For Vincent people keep spreading rumors about him and his dad, whereas with Scotty specific people have an issue with him being gay and they make sure he knows they don't like him. Now, as you get further into the story you'll learn the reason why Scotty's main bully goes after him so much, (not that it's excusable, but you'll learn about why Taylor is going after Scotty so much.)
I really enjoyed this story, the characters were great! I adored Vince, he's just a complete sweetheart, you can really tell he truly cares about Scotty's well-being and wants him to be happy. Scotty is also loveable too, despite being bullied he still tries to remain positive and hopeful. And I love that about his character! While I don't agree with Scotty keeping THE secret to himself, I still can't help but to adore him. He's just adorable!
Vince and Scotty, while they are opposites, their relationship never felt like it was a stretch for them to like each other. They got to know one another and from there feelings developed, and I loved how it wasn't a huge deal that Scotty was the 'nerd' and Vince was the 'bad boy'. Was it mentioned? Yes. But it didn't detract from their relationship and I liked that.
Something I loved the most about this story is about how the focus was on developing Scotty and Vince's relationship, while also letting their characters and the side characters grow. It wasn't focused on steamy scenes but rather building up a deep connection between the two MC's and I really enjoyed that. I will say if you do like spicy scenes in your romance stories then you might not enjoy this as much then. Steamy moments are implied but it doesn't go in to detail, for those that are wondering.
Olly is a great side character, I liked being able to see her grow alongside Scotty and Vince throughout the story. As for Alexis.... I did not like her at first, she was as bad as Taylor in my book. However, we eventually get to see her true character later on in the story and seeing that made me warm up a bit more towards her. Overall a really great story from a new-to-me author!
