Bull Riders Don't Swoon (Kissing Ridge Cowboys Book 2) by R.M. Neill

Bull Riders Don't Swoon is book two of the Kissing Ridge Cowboys series. This is a best friends to lovers romance.

From the blurb:

Griff

Jamieson Carr is my best friend, the one bright light in my mostly dark life.
He’s sunshine, easy smiles, and a world-class bull rider.
Me? I’m just a surly bull fighter with a sixth sense around animals.
He thinks I’m the reason he’s so good, but that’s not true at all. Jamieson is a shining star who doesn’t need me.
I should be glad I’m the lucky one who gets to stand beside him…but I’ve always wanted more.

Jamieson
Griff Shepard saved my life.
Of course, that’s best friend goals don’t you think? Without him, I wouldn’t be half the bull rider I am today. He’s my good luck charm, closest confidant, and partner-in-crime all rolled into one.
Griff might be a little grumpy, but he’s always got my back and joins in when I sing. Who doesn’t love a good sea shanty?
I thought I knew everything about Griff.
Until a road trip… and one kiss.

Bull Riders Don't Swoon is an emotionally charged romance between two best friends who work together in rodeo. A grumpy bull fighter who pines for his best friend finally shares his secrets—all of them. A road trip that turns into romance, heartfelt confessions, and an obsession with blueberries.
Bull Riders Don’t Swoon will definitely have you swooning when Jamieson realizes the power of love.

CW: alcoholic parent, off page physical abuse

Molly Otto's review:

Griff & Jamie have been best friends for a long time. Griff is in love for a lot of it but is not willing to lose his friendship by admitting his feelings. Griff is one of those souls who was brought to this world to show kindness and forgiveness to all, even when not everyone deserves his heart. Appreciated how Griff handled the situation with his father and the steps they took to a better relationship even when most would have given up a long time ago Jamie has always followed his dreams of bull riding with his best friend, helping him along the way to achieve his dreams. When Griff is hurt on the circuit, Jamie wakes up to see how much his best friend means to him. It may take them longer than two people made for each other to get there, but when they do, you can feel how great they are for one another.

SNik's review:

Second in series (Kissing Ridge Cowboys), but can be read as a standalone. Best friends to lovers. Side representation. Dual POV. Heed content warnings.

Griff has spent years by Jamieson’s side, giving up on his own dreams in order to work alongside his best friend and the man he secretly loves. Jamieson knows riding bulls and thinks he knows his bullfighter best friend, but finding that he’s been oblivious to Griff’s true affections and needs has him changing all his priorities.

It is clear from the flashbacks about their past that Griff and Jamieson have a special friendship that grows and continues through the years. The most swoony parts come later once Jamieson realizes how important Griff is, and wants to comfort and care for the man that made sacrifices and missed opportunities. This story had minimal angst and was sweet, just two men starting a meant-to-be relationship and committing a hundred percent to being together and loving one another no matter what.
