Seriously, one of my favorite couples, the definition of opposites and grumpy/sunshine, Diem and Tallus solve murders while falling deeper into love. Don't miss this addition to the series, or if you're not familiar with the series, start from the beginning to read about these two special guys.
From the Reading Between the Lines blurb:
One case to save my career.
One headstrong boyfriend I can’t function without.
I’m doomed.
Without solving a peculiar out-of-town case, Diem’s career is over. He can’t afford to live, let alone pay bills and run the business.
The case involves a mostly dead teen and a small-town police department who are convinced the boy suffered an accident.
All hope lies on the hunch of a grieving mother.
Unable to handle such a delicate situation on his own and unwilling to go bust, Diem invites his boyfriend/almost-partner along to make sure his rough edges don’t cost them a payday.
What he didn’t expect was a high school full of secrets and suspects, a bed-and-breakfast from hell with only one m*#@er f*#@ing bed, and danger around every corner because someone doesn’t want the truth to be unveiled.
Diem can handle threats. Risking life and limb to get answers is part of the game. But as the mystery unfolds, he realizes there is one thing not worth jeopardizing for a case: Tallus.
SNik's review:
Third in series (Shadowy Solutions), must be read in order. Mystery. Established couple. Grumpy/sunshine. Dual POV.
Diem and Tallus are still working their ways towards being detective partners and building on how being boyfriends actually looks between them. A new case about a possible murder that Diem needs desperately to pay the bills actually grabs Tallus’s interest and he refuses to let Diem give up.
Honestly, this series gets better and better. The mystery, intrigue, and secondary characters are interesting, engaging and entertaining. However the chef’s kiss is the growth that Diem is making, pushing himself to communicate his feelings, face his fears, and allow himself the joy that is having Tallus in his life. Tallus is still the positive, patient and understanding force in Diem’s life, and these two never want to give up on each other which is beyond swoony. There is also plenty of action and investigation to balance out the sweet and serious feelings growing between these two who have become one of my favorite couples.
