From the Forbidden blurb:
It’s one thing to see other people’s fates. It’s another thing entirely to accept your own.
Ira Faer has a secret. As a prophet in the Paladin Guild, it’s his job to report his visions to his superiors. The trouble is, his visions these days would get a lot of good people killed—including himself. He can’t tell them he’s been seeing rebel paladins and demons working together, and he certainly can’t tell them about the visions of himself and the sinfully hot halfling demon named Wolf. So he lies, hoping they won’t discover his transgression.
But his careful balancing act is disrupted when he has a vision of Wolf being attacked by paladins. Unable to stand by and let it happen, Ira rushes to intervene and brings his whole world crashing down around him.
Wolf has been around for a very long time. He spends his nights tending the bar at the demon club, In Extremis, as he has for the last hundred years. It’s a monotonous slog from one night to the next, until Ira barges into his life. He can’t believe a prophet of the Lord would ever care about him, but Ira doesn’t just care. Ira wants him, red eyes and all.
Under Ira’s careful and sometimes cryptic direction, old friends and new will take steps toward the future Ira has been seeing, but it won’t be easy. Unrest grows in the Paladin Guild, and they won’t let one of their precious prophets leave the fold so easily.
SNik's review:
Third in series (Dark Delights), must be read in order due to overarching storyline. Paranormal. Forbidden relationship. Found family. Dual POV.
Keeping his visions a secret lately has been hard, but Ira has seen a future different than what the Paladin Guild wants, and it includes Ira’s forbidden relationship with the demon halfling Wolf. Rescued by a prophet, Wolf doesn’t understand how Ira knows the things he does, but there is an undeniable attraction and connection between them that he refuses to give up.
I really enjoyed the forgone conclusion that Ira and Wolf would become partners and lovers, there was no hesitation from either of them and the fact that it felt so right for them was actually swoony. There is plenty of spice and the found family that is growing from the demons and former paladins was especially great as they became tighter and committed to fighting together. I do wish there had been more background for Ira and Wolf, but every moment they are on page together was so sweet with a cinnamon roll demon taking care of his brave and capable prophet.
