Teaser Tuesday: The Light Within (Shadow and Light Duology Book 2) by T J Rose

#TeaserTuesday this week is The Light Within by T J Rose. This is the second part of a duology and directly follows on from the first book, The Shadows Beyond. This second part will be with us in a few days, so once you've enjoyed the excerpt there's time to read the first one before this is with us on November 15th.

From the blurb:

Cinnamon ‘Cinn’ Saunders has learnt a lot since his arrival at the Aurelia Arcanum Institute of Esoteric Sciences.

He's learnt he’s a shadowslipper, capable of moving between realms.

He's learnt that he's expected to be the solution to the ever-growing waves of deadly umbraphage attacks.

He's learnt that cocky French men with pretty, punchable faces can be fun to kiss.

After Cinn's explosive arrival into his world, Julien Montaigne has also learnt a lot.

His dead sister Béatrice was a member of the terrorist group, the Arcane Purifiers;

Béatrice may or may not have returned to them as the world’s ugliest cat;

English men with a fondness for beanie hats make him go weak at the knees.

Trouble is stirring, and Cinn, Julien, Darcy and Elliot are about to be caught in the cross-fire between the consortium and the Arcane Purifiers. As dangers circle like sharks, the four friends must unravel the threads of the mysteries they’re wrapped up in and choose which side of the war they belong to before their enemies close in.

This is the second half of the Shadow & Light Duology, and should be read after The Shadows Beyond.

Excerpt:

“But how else could I wax poetry about the shape of your face compared to the moon? Ever so shiny, ever so round?” Julien poked Cinn’s cheek. “It’s not my fault you demanded a date.”
“Julien, if this was meant to be a special moment, you’re spoiling it. Shut your mouth.”
“Non. But now, seriously.”
Julien caught his chin, tipping his face up. In this light, his grey eyes were the colour of moonstone. Moonstone that reflected the twinkling stars.
The volume of Julien’s voice dropped low to say, “I don’t know if I believe in destiny, but you are the most compelling case for it I’ve ever seen.”
Cinn’s heart skipped all the beats. Every single one.
It was a sentence he never expected to hear aloud, even though it was the exact one Julien had written at the bottom of the letter he’d written to him.
Cinn always believed love was something you made work, not something that was written in the stars. But here, in the quiet glow of Paris, Julien’s words felt like the universe’s own whisper. Like the moment was… predetermined? Like they were always meant to find each other.

The Light Within will be available as an e-book and paperback on November 15th
