Finding Home at Randy's (Diner Days) by Abrianna Denae

"Sitting here with my partners, my best friend, and our son… It’s perfect, even if we aren’t."

From the Finding Home at Randy's blurb:

The quiet one, the outgoing one, the observant one…they shouldn’t work, but against all odds, they learn the meaning of home, together.

Luka

Boston is a fresh start, a chance to live my life on my terms, rather than doing what my family expects of me. Though, to my disappointment, my anxiety and insecurities made the cross-country move with me.

When a co-worker introduces me to Randy’s Diner, at first, I’m not sure what to expect, but the warm and welcoming people who treat the diner like a second home show me a world of inclusion that I've only ever dreamed about. And then I meet not one but two people, who somehow manage to see through every wall I’ve ever tried to hide behind.

Graeme

Since my divorce, my life has been…stagnant. Other than my son, my ex-husband turned best friend, and my career as an author, Randy’s Diner has been the only way to break up the monotony.

Luka catches my attention from the first glimpse. His shy smile and perpetual blush draw me in, making the caretaker instincts I buried long ago rise to the surface. But when he befriends the one person I can’t have, I’m convinced I’ve lost my shot before I can even ask for a chance.

Denver

I can flirt and make friends with anyone, so it’s no hardship to take the new face I meet at Randy’s under my wing. Luka is adorably shy, and I make it my mission to help him feel comfortable in his own skin.

The closer we get, the more our feelings for one another grow, but it’s not just Luka I’m interested in. Where my confidence and open nature helps me bring Luka out of his shell, I feel like a fumbling teenager around Graeme. So when it becomes apparent the other man is also interested in Luka, things get…complicated.

It’ll take a lot of trust in each other, ourselves, and the new discoveries we’re making, in order to ensure the fragile relationship between the three of us lasts. But together, we might just find safety and the home we’ve always longed for.

Love Beyond the binary: serving up low angst trans romances at Randy's Diner

Finding Home at Randy's is a standalone low angst M/M/X romance containing: acquaintances to lovers, found family, a snarky teenager, light D/s, and the shy man who gets swept up in the chaos.

Angel's review:

I have loved every single book in the Diner Days series, but I think this one is my new favorite. I adored each and every character!

I can relate a lot to Luka because I am also extremely shy and awkward, and I too am not good in social situations. The fact that I could relate to Luka endeared him more to me, but even if I couldn't relate to him in that aspect his character is awesome. He's more quiet and soft-spoken than Denver and Grae are, but I think that just helps these men fit together even better. I liked those moments when him, Denver, and Grae were dancing around each other, it helped build up their relationship dynamic and made it even sweeter when they finally got together.

Denver is bold, outgoing, charismatic, and confident. Not to mention very social. They had a crush on Grae for a while but has been hesitant to say anything in case the other man didn't feel the same way. When sweet Luka comes into the picture he helps both Denver and Grae not only realize that they both feel the same way about each other, but Luka also encourages them both to talk to each other and take a leap.

Grae is adorable! Grae is an author and I thought it was interesting reading about him writing a book, and all the work that goes into writing one was described well. The relationship he has with Rory and Callum is just so sweet, the bond they have with each other just made me smile the whole time. Rory and Callum were so encouraging about about his relationship with Denver and Luka.

Axel and Lauri are fantastic as well! Their relationship is full of playful banter and you could tell how much they love each other by their dialogue with each other.

My favorite moments was when Luka, Denver, Grae, Rory, and Callum went out on what Callum called; "family dates". Those scenes were filled with so much found family goodness, they made me so happy to read. The relationship that Denver, Luka, and Grae developed was so natural, and full of acceptance and encouragement, and love. I thought this book was absolutely amazing and I could go on and on about why I loved this book.

I really hope Callum gets his own story soon, I absolutely adored him! He's such a vibrant character, he's funny, and quirky. I'd love to see his character appear again.

Molly Otto's review:

Abrianna has shown us the beauty that is a perfect dysfunctional functional family. These characters are so intertwined together that you feel all their love for each and every single aspect of this life they are building. Grae & Rory may be divorced, yet they still show an unbreakable bond in raising their son Cal. Enter Luka & Denver two men who were meant to be brought into the fold to make this family complete. They understand the dynamics and don't fight them they embrace and encourage showing true maturity in this relationship.

This story does have less angst than a typical Abrianna story, yet you still feel their voice. You see the same passion and deep emotions without the angst, proving how well rounded of a writer they are. Didn't think A Gentle Way to Love could be passed in my regards a favorite, and yet here we are. Truly spectacular and can not wait to see what they have in store for us next in this universe.

Heather's Review:

I am loving how the Diner Days series is highlighting not only trans and non-binary folx but also embracing so many different ways of being in relationships and Abrianna Denae's Finding Home at Randy's gives us this in spades!  With three main characters, all starting off their relationship at the same time, this low angst read gives us all the feels without getting bogged down in what building a kinky poly relationship can be.

I love that each person brought strengths and insecurities to the budding relationship, but they build on that and support each other.  I also love that this book has passion, heat, humor and unconventional families!
