The Cursed Sebastian Storm (Moonlight Falls Book 2) by Colette Rivera

The second entry into the Moonlight Falls trilogy, where James and Sebastian firmly establish their relationship, and there are still plenty of dangers hanging over their heads.

From the The Cursed Sebastian Storm blurb:

Some magic changes you forever.

Sebastian Storm didn’t dare dream of a future beyond Storm House. He never hoped James Gray might want to keep him. But it seems that’s exactly what James plans to do.

Too bad they won’t last. No one ever picks Sebastian, and he can’t see why James would be any different, especially when Sebastian is keeping a secret he dreads having to reveal.

But he can’t keep it to himself when the curse that’s haunted him his whole life isn’t done with him.

Sebastian should have known escaping wouldn’t be easy, but he never expected the curse to grow or to face worse things outside Storm House’s walls. Shades are wreaking havoc on Moonlight Falls as something even more sinister builds beneath the surface.

With so much at stake, Sebastian has to risk everything. He needs to know if James can be the one good thing in his life that lasts. To find out if they can stand together when things get worse, not better. And just maybe, they’ll be able to build a future out of the rubble.

***
The Cursed Sebastian Stormis book two in the Moonlight Falls trilogy following James and Sebastian’s story. This MM paranormal romance ends in a HFN while the overarching plot continues, and the full HEA and resolution to the story comes at the end of book three. These books must be read in order. CWs can be found using the look inside feature and on the author’s website.

SNik's review:

Second in series (Moonlight Falls), must be read in order. Paranormal. Established couple. Found family. Single POV.

Just when they thought they had a handle on the curse, James and Sebastian have more to contend with than they expected. Add to that all of Sebastian’s conflicted feelings about being free from Storm house but also trying to accept the help James and his friends are giving him is overwhelming. There’s not a lot of progress made with respect to Sebastian’s curse and the unusual shade activity continues. However, the group of friends surrounding James and Sebastian really step up as supportive characters, and we see glimpses of an even more extended sort of family from other members of Moonlight Falls.

My favorite parts of this entry in the series is the furtherance of James and Sebastian’s relationship, more heat and more emotions being shared really showed the strength of their feelings. I am looking forward to the series finale and having all of the overarching plotline questions answered as well as getting James and Sebastian’s HEA.

Molly Otto's review:

This is one of those worlds that just gets better with each addition. The first book, along with the prequel novella, weren't my favorite, yet the series kept drawing me in. And now I get why it was for this story the plot thickens, and the emotions are done brilliantly. You feel all the turmoil Sebastian is facing from being free for the first time in six years. James and his friends show him what is to be accepted and loved for the first time in his life. The Shades are growing stronger, and it's time to fight back before the town is lost forever. Wow, this story just pulls you in and holds you to the very end. Definitely put the conclusion on my tbr, cannot wait to see how the author closes this trilogy.

Jacqueleen the Reading Queen's review:

"ᴛʜᴇɪʀ ɪᴍᴘᴇʀꜰᴇᴄᴛɪᴏɴꜱ ꜰɪᴛ ᴛᴏɢᴇᴛʜᴇʀ ʟɪᴋᴇ ᴛʜᴇʏ ᴡᴇʀᴇ ᴍᴀᴅᴇ ꜰᴏʀ ᴇᴀᴄʜ ᴏᴛʜᴇʀ ᴀʟᴍᴏꜱᴛ ᴀꜱ ɪꜰ ᴛʜᴇɪʀ ᴛʀᴀᴜᴍᴀꜱ ʜᴀᴅ ʙᴇᴇɴ ᴛᴡɪꜱᴛᴇᴅ ᴛᴏɢᴇᴛʜᴇʀ ꜰᴏʀ ᴛʜᴇ ʟᴀꜱᴛ ꜰᴏᴜʀᴛᴇᴇɴ ʏᴇᴀʀꜱ, ɴᴏᴛ ᴏᴜᴛ ᴏꜰ ʀᴀɴᴅᴏᴍ ᴄʜᴀɴᴄᴇ, ʙᴜᴛ ᴛᴏ ᴄʀᴇᴀᴛᴇ ᴛʜᴇɪʀ ᴏᴛʜᴇʀ ʜᴀʟꜰ."

I totally loved that we got Sebastian's POV for book 2! It answered a lot of my questions being in Sebastian's head. I felt so sad for him, realizing how much he doubted his own self-worth based on his treatment from his own family. Especially his horrible mother, the person who was supposed to love him the most.

"ɪ ᴅɪᴅɴ'ᴛ ᴋɴᴏᴡ ʜᴏᴡ ᴛᴏ ʙᴇʟɪᴇᴠᴇ ᴀɴʏᴏɴᴇ ᴡᴏᴜʟᴅ ᴡᴀɴᴛ ᴍᴇ ᴡʜᴇɴ ᴛʜᴇ ᴘᴇᴏᴘʟᴇ ᴡʜᴏ ᴡᴇʀᴇ ꜱᴜᴘᴘᴏꜱᴇᴅ ᴛᴏ ᴄᴏᴜʟᴅɴ'ᴛ ᴍᴀɴᴀɢᴇ ɪᴛ."

Once Sebastian let go of his doubts, he finally started to see some happiness in his life. Yes, he still had the curse to contend with, not to mention the growing shade problem in Moonlight Falls, which may or may not be connected, but he also had James. James who had shown him what it was like to be cared for. Who called him sweetheart. Who introduced him to having friends he could count on. It was lovely seeing their relationship evolve.

There's still one more book in this trilogy. I'm hoping the last is a dual POV so we get both MCs this time. The mystery of the curse and the mysterious shade population are both growing concerns and I am dying to know how it all ends!
