Can a road trip change how Nick and Logan feel about each other? Or will it make their anger worse? Read on to find out!
From the All Roads Lead to You blurb:
A road trip that turned into a journey.
Logan
Nicholas Theodoropoulos had been my stepbrother since I was fourteen. Mom died when I was twelve, and I resented Dad remarrying so soon. Even worse, my stepbrother had grown into a gorgeous man. I hated looking at him, reminding me every day of what I could never have. No one knew I was gay and never would. But when my best friend backed out of our road trip to California, Dad forced me to travel with my stepbrother. It was the only way if I wanted to go on this journey I’d been planning since middle school. Nothing good would come out of this.
Nick
Logan Conrad had hated me since the day Mom and I moved into his house after our parents got married. Like I cared. I had an amazing girlfriend, was the star tennis player on the varsity team, and was a recent graduate. Soon, I’d be attending Stanford with an athletic scholarship and my favorite girl by my side. Life was good. But as fate would have it, I found myself suddenly single and forced to travel across the country with the one person who hated my guts. Nothing good would come out of this.
It was 1987 as two young men and stepbrothers were forced to navigate resentments and growing feelings while on a three-week road trip from Virginia to California. Will their journey finally take them to where they belong?
An MM, forced proximity, enemies-to-lovers, stepbrothers, bi-awakening, road trip romance.
Angel's review:
I don't typically read books set in the past, it's just something I've never gotten that into. When I read the blurb for this book though it sounded way too good to pass up. I'm glad I gave it a chance as it was a really beautiful story full of growth, and self-discovery.
Nick and Logan couldn't be more opposite from each other, Nick is more of a sunshine character, he goes with the flow and is a generally optimistic guy. Whereas Logan is more of the grumpy character who is quick to get angry, and who likes things done a certain way. These two men started of with a lot of anger in their hearts, most of that anger came from Logan, Nick never understood why Logan hated him so much until their trip. That trip changed everything.
This book had a bit of Hurt/Comfort, First Times, Pan Awakening, Stepbrothers romance, and a touch of enemies to lovers as well. I found the way this story was written to be a great representation of the time period. (I was not alive in the 80's or 90's, but the way this story was written made it very believable.) What I loved the most is how much communication occurred between Nick and Logan, communicating is so important especially for these two men and I thought that was portrayed beautifully. I liked that this had a bit of a slow burn, and I loved that both of these characters grew as individuals but they also grew together as well.
If you like a high-heat story then you'll love this one! I think there could've been less steamy moments as tons of steamy scenes isn't my cup of tea. BUT that's not to stay I didn't enjoy the story, I just feel like there could've been less steamy scenes and the story would've still been amazing. Aside from that I thought the pacing flowed smoothly, the dialogue between the characters was engaging and informative. We learned a lot about both of these characters whilst they were on their road trip, in addition, we also got fantastic world building details of a majority of the places they stopped at which was really cool!
I loved how supportive and accepting the side characters were in this story, Hunter, Caleb, Mia, and Wyatt were all so supportive and accepting. I liked that there weren't any really negative experiences throughout this story, it's refreshing to read about a book that has positive responses to coming out, I loved that Courtney wrote those characters the way she did.
Overall a terrific book full of self discovery, growth, love, and a road trip of the summer!
Thera's review:
I really loved this book. My favorite part was the top notch communication between Nick and Logan. Logan rarely wanted to talk about his feelings but Nick was able to make him open up. Most teens probably aren't that open but I think with the loss of parents it made them be more open. It was genuine. It felt real.
I was pretty little in the 80s but the nostalgia was real. The crimped hair, the popped collars, the mini skirts, Jean jackets. It was extraordinary. Also, the slang. It was stellar.
I was definitely rooting for them. They both deserved happiness.
Another great book by Courtney!
