Thank you so much to Heather for having me here today to talk to you all more about the Rainbow Readers Cruise! My name is Jay and I own the long-running LGBTQ romance blog, Joyfully Jay. I am one of the Cruise hosts and am organizing the event along with narrator, Joel Leslie, and his husband, cruise travel agent and event planner, Rich Najuch.
The Rainbow Readers Cruise celebrates the readers and creators of LGBTQ+ fiction and romance with four days and five nights aboard the Celebrity Reflection. It is going to be a chance to meet and mingle with some amazing authors and narrators, as well as to enjoy the fun of a cruise with other readers and fans of LGBTQ+ fiction.
The cruise departs from the Port of Fort Lauderdale on August 19, 2024 and returns August 23, 2024, with stops at Key West and Coco Cay (Celebrity's private island). We will spend time in fabulous locations, plus have lots of great activities on the ship. And for those looking for some relaxation, there will be lots of time for that too.
Key West is internationally known as a gay mecca, attracting more than 250,000 visitors to this top LGBTQ vacation spot that celebrates openness and pride. The entire island is renowned for its welcoming and accepting attitude. “One Human Family” became Key West’s official philosophy in 2000. Key West is full of fantastic LGBTQ and literary history, all set in the beautiful backdrop of an island paradise. Once you’ve visited, you will completely understand why so many artists over the years choose to make their home in Key West.
Coco Cay is an award-winning private island in the Bahamas that combines the best of beachside bliss and sun-soaked excitement. Between beaches, pools, water activities, swim up bars, and more, there is something for everyone at Coco Cay.
While on the ship, we have planned all kinds of fun events, including the chance to meet and mingle with some of your favorite LGBTQ+ fiction and romance authors and creators, as well as attend panels, meet and greets, small group social activities, and the Signing at Sea. Plus, the cruise itself! Which includes food and drinks, entertainment, and more. And our attendees also get free wi-fi and the Celebrity drinks package included!
