Unloved by Marley Valentine

From USA Today bestselling author Marley Valentine comes unloved, an all new emotional, hurt/comfort, polyamorous romance.

From the blurb:

We longed. We lost. We loved. Desperately.

I thought I had my life all figured out. But after a college football accident leaves me deaf, I was
learning how to live all over again.

I expected the anger, the frustration, and the struggle to readjust, but what I didn’t expect to happen amongst the chaos, was to fall in love.

Especially not with two men.

Rough-edged puzzle pieces, Rhys, Samuel, and I were nothing but aching memories, painful realities, and hidden scars.

We were products of our pasts, abandoned and unloved, messy and complicated. Individually we had baggage; together we had mountains to climb.

But when the three of us were tangled up in one another, spilling secrets in the dark, hearts beating in sync, nothing else mattered but them.

We needed to break the cycle, because they deserved love… And who knows, maybe I finally did too.

Heather's Review:

I started reading unloved before Christmas and I set it aside because I was already emotional and I wasn't in a good headspace to deal with even more emotions. I picked it back up after the holiday hoopla was over and devoured it in one sitting...

It's emotional, it's inspiring, and it's definitely full of healing from trauma, but for me the romance element was understated... their passion for each other seemed to burn brighter than the emotional connection as the story went on... there wasn't talk about how the relationship would work or how their poly relationship would look.

It was told from all three POV, which for their past histories was good, but for the romance was a little tough.

I did enjoy meeting all three men, and I appreciated their hard won HEA.

Angel's Review:

I'm new to Marley Valentine's work. This was my first book I've ever read by them. I have to say I really enjoyed their writing style. The way they wrote these three MCs was done so well, and with how they were written you just get completely immersed in their world. You feel the MC's pain; you go through the ups and downs right alongside all of them; you cheer them all on, and you get to watch them all not only fall in love with each other, but you also get to see each of these men grow individually, and together.

Lennox's character was probably my favorite out of the three MCs, mainly because despite him losing his hearing, he never took it out on anyone. He never gave up or made it seem like his life was over. He came to terms with it and learned how to deal with being deaf, and how to live without his hearing.

Samuel's character, I think, is the sweetheart of the group. He cares about both of his men so deeply and so profoundly. The amount of care and support he gave Lennox, and how he was there for him every step of the way, was just so beautiful! The same can be said for how both he and Lennox was there to support Rhys, and how they continued to show up, and be there for not only him but for each other.

Rhys's character has gone through a lot.. he's been struggling with addiction for years, he intends to get clean; he wants to get clean, but something keeps setting him back whenever he feels like he's getting close. When Arlo comes into his life and when he's able to join Arlo's gym, he finds a renewed purpose. And when he meets Lennox and Samuel, he feels better than he has in a long time.

I thought this story was beautiful. There were heavy topics featured, but they were done so beautifully. I really enjoyed reading about how these three different men ended being exactly what the other needs, how they are all there for each other. How they found more than one way to communicate with Lennox. I loved how Rhys's character taught them sign language, and how Lennox's family immediately started learning.

This book was full of loss and grief, yes, but it was also full of love, redemption, and learning how to pick yourself back up when things get bad. My favorite moment is when Rhys finally got to see his sister again. That moment was so poignant I'm really glad it was included. Overall, a lovely book showcasing love.

Molly Otto's Review:

The much anticipated story of Samuel, Lennox, and Rhys is here, and it's as beautiful, powerful, and emotional as we all anticipated. Each of these men has been through so much in their short lives, it's no wonder they all have trouble accepting and believing they can be loved.

This story goes along parallel to the events of UNWANTED, so those questions we had are now answered, and an understanding comes of why Rhys made the choices he did.

The three of an instant bond that you can feel and know once they move from their demons. It's not an easy road for any of them, but together, it is possible and will triumph. A truly beautiful story of love and acceptance.

Personal note. I have a tw of drug abuse/relapse, but the way it is handled in this book was not triggering for me. It was handled delicately and not overly detailed. Where you are aware the events happen but don't have to see them.
