Sunshine (Trident Agency Book 1) by Kiki Clark & E.M. Lindsey

Sunshine marks the start of a fantastic brand new series by two dynamic authors who create a stellar duo!!

From the blurb:

There’s a fine line between hate and fated mates…

Jeremiah has better things to do than babysit the bratty crown prince of the Sirens. His personal protection agency is the best though and the king and queen won’t settle for less.

Being a practically invulnerable Hellhound doesn’t hurt either.

Remi’s selfish and uncaring attitude drives him crazy and confirms his suspicions about the prince being nothing more than a spoiled man-child. He doesn’t care that the more time they spend together, the more possessive his Hellhound becomes of the little princeling.

Or that it turns out first impressions might be misleading…

Falling for a client is the last thing he can let happen. His name and his company’s reputation are on the line. He won’t be led around by his… instincts.

When things begin to heat up between them though, he can’t deny their connection might just be destiny. One thing he knows for sure?

Fire and water will always make steam.

Sunshine is the first in the new Trident Agency series by co-writing duo, EM Lindsey and Kiki Clark. It features a grumpy Hellhound affectionately known as Sunshine to his teammates, a half-Siren prince who’s more interested in sassying than following orders, a size difference a certain bodyguard loves to take advantage of, and truckloads of *chef’s kiss* possessiveness and touch him and get unalived vibes.

Angel's Review:

Wow, just.. wow! I highly enjoy books by both Kiki and EM. Their books are always ones I recommend, and the ones that hold a special place in my heart, and they also take up room in my brain. These two coming together to write a paranormal series with fated mate components? I mean, that sounds like the perfect pairing/idea/plan!!

These two know how to write, okay? I don't even think I have to note how well the book was written, but I'll do it. The writing was superb. You can't tell this book was written by two authors. The pages and chapters just flow seamlessly. The writing has such a good flow, and the mysterious person/people behind the attacks are always just out of view. These two didn't write their mystery in a way where you'd immediately be able to identify who is the guilty party. They keep you on your toes, bring more people to light so you'll think it's them, when in reality it's someone completely different. It was just done excellently!! Now that I've spoken about how well the plot and overall storyline were written, now I'll dive into the characters!

Sunshine, aka Jeremiah, is such a great character! He takes his job seriously, but despite his gruff demeanor, he's kind and cares deeply about not only the wellbeing of his clients but also the wellbeing of his team, who are also his found family. I really liked how his hellhound side was described. It was very interesting and completely captivated me. Because of people's rude remarks and their hateful judgement, he kept going back and forth with himself over he should let himself be with the prince, and that angst was perfect! It wouldn't of been a true collaboration from these two authors if there wasn't angst, and things going wrong. Those angsty moments made the romance and the happy moments shine and made them worth the angst.

Remi is our other MC. He's half siren and half human. He has also been judged and defined by others over what he is, or rather, what he isn't. Due to that, he is insecure and doesn't trust things that are right in front of him. He puts on a front to those around him, tries to be someone he's not, but his Sunshine sees right through him.

The side characters were superb!! I'm so glad that these two authors already announced that this is going to be a series cause there are SO MANY characters I want to learn more about!! I need to know more about them all! The fated mate component was done really well and done in a really lovely way. Both men refused to acknowledge what their shifter sides and their hearts were telling them, which made their realization of who they are to each that much sweeter.

Overall, I am completely blown away by this book, these characters, and this incredible world. I'm so excited and eager for future books in this series!

Jacqueleen the Reading Queen's Review:

"You and I are entirely wrong for each other, but everything in me doesn't give a single fuck. I have no idea what our future looks like, but I will not walk this earth if you're not in it."

I totally loved this new series opener by Kiki Clark and EM Lindsey. In it we meet a loveable group of misfit supernaturals who work for The Trident Agency. This agency is known as one of the best protection agencies around, so naturally they were the Queen of the Sirens first call when her family was in the midst of a threat against their safety. Amidst much protest, that also meant crown prince Remi had to make his way home from college and join his family in the protection of the palace.

Sunshine sure had his work out for him with Remi. He was a total brat through and through. At first the two were like oil and water, Remi not wanting a babysitter no matter how tempting the Hellhound was. But there was more at work between them than just their sexual tension. There was fate. You can fight fate all you want, but in the end that fickle lady always seems to get her way.

"You are playing with hellfire, boy."

The dynamic between Remi and Sunshine was hot AF. I also loved the dynamic between the Alpha Team. All of them have their own hang ups, but you can't help but love them. They are a found family and sometimes those families can be bound stronger than ones by blood. These men are bound by the love they have for one another. They are bound by choice and I can't wait for Priest to get his man next!
