Love is Blind by Scarlet Blackwell

"Another out of the park read filled with passion and drama!" Nedra on Love is Blind.

From the blurb:

“Mr. Lewis alleged you picked him up today on Main Street while masquerading as a taxi driver, and drove him some distance before you let him out.”

When artist and professional beach bum Sam accidentally kidnaps hot blind guy Kieran, emotions start to complicate his simple no-strings life.
Sam’s just looking for a hook-up, not a soulmate, but he soon starts to care dangerously for Kieran and his injured dog.

“You’ll continue to see those stars on your bedroom ceiling, because I’m going to put them there. Every night for the rest of your life.”

Kieran’s a prickly customer. He’s fiercely independent and doesn’t need anyone to look after him, least of all somebody with a reputation like Sam’s. But fate has thrown them together and they can fight it, but sooner or later, they’ll have to accept the inevitable.

Short, sweet contemporary novella with spice, snark, hurt/comfort and HEA.

Nedra's Review:

Love is Blind is a definite change in pace from the last read by Scarlet, but another knock out of the park. The quirkiness and humor in this one just added to the story and overall quality of the book. The characters were fantastically developed, with a pinch of their past revealed. And, the disability aspect was handled with the upmost caution and respect, even though the situation did not have the best start.

“ℍ𝕖𝕪, 𝕀 𝕗𝕦𝕔𝕜𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕡𝕚𝕔𝕜𝕖𝕕 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕦𝕡 𝕓𝕖𝕔𝕒𝕦𝕤𝕖 𝕀 𝕥𝕙𝕠𝕦𝕘𝕙𝕥 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕨𝕖𝕣𝕖 𝕙𝕠𝕥. 𝕀𝕗 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕔𝕙𝕠𝕤𝕖 𝕥𝕠 𝕣𝕖𝕒𝕕 𝕥𝕙𝕒𝕥 𝕨𝕣𝕠𝕟𝕘, 𝕚𝕥’𝕤 𝕪𝕠𝕦𝕣 𝕠𝕨𝕟 𝕗𝕒𝕦𝕝𝕥,”

Sam and Kieran were so much fun, especially with their constant bickering upon first meeting. The sexual tension was evident from the start, fireworks erupting on contact. I absolutely loved the changes in San throughout, making me love his character more. And Kieran (Blondie) was fiercely strong, especially with his disability being more recent than expected.

𝙈𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙝𝙞𝙢, 𝙖𝙜𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙨𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙡𝙙, 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙜 𝙝𝙖𝙪𝙡.

I just have to comment on Jackson because who doesn’t love dogs?!?! He’s a survivor, just like his owner.  🐾

SNik's Review:

Standalone novella. Quick read. Single POV.

Struggling artist Sam is a playboy, there is no doubt, he spends his days cruising for hookups and selling just enough paintings to pay his rent. When he offers a ride to a sexy blond on the street, he is accused of kidnapping and then begins his obsession with getting Kieran to acknowledge him.

Solely looking to get Kieran into his bed, Sam slowly realizes he wants more and that being with Kieran makes him want to try to be better, as a person, as an artist, and as a possible boyfriend.

As this is a novella, Sam’s turnaround is quick and feelings are fast to grow, but the story does happen over months as Kieran and Sam’s relationship builds with some steam and a true commitment from Sam to be with Kieran.

An entertaining read that had some heart wrenching moments and the idea that once you have found your person, you are all in no matter what.

Sheena's Review:

Sam is a terrible person at the start of this book. He's arrogant, vain, selfish, self-absorbed and shallow. Like no other author I've ever read though, Scarlet has this innate ability to make these terrible people likable to the point I want them to be happy and follow their journey avidly.

I like how the book was written too, with the almost breaking the 3rd wall now and again, it's almost like it's told as a journal entry and I really liked that, it was different. Kieran is a prickly customer too, at the start and I wasn't sure if I liked him at the start either. That's the joy of this story though, both guys grow and change and it's so nice to see. I particularly liked Sam's journey, he was so awful at the start and became so changed in such a short time.

This wouldn't be a Scarlet story without a little peril though, and it really put me through the wringer near the end. I cried, and I'm not ashamed to admit it. I really loved this story, it had everything I wanted and had a really satisfying ending, I can highly recommend it.

Miki J's Review:

Story told wholly from 1 POV - Sam who we discover from the very first chapter is narcissistic, selfish, arrogant and conceited.....but at least he's honest about it !!! When he first meets Keiran, it was only to scratch an itch but changes his mind because of a "disability". Unfortunately for Sam, this meeting (*ahem* kidnapping) ended up with a visit from the ones in blue, which really did get his dander up.  So much so that he confronts Keiran ....and that's the real fun starts.

From the awkward dating (he really does put his foot in it ....hehehehehe) to their sizzling attraction....there's no doubt about their connection. But it’s very endearing as he tries to figure out what to do and how to do better...second and even third guessing himself was getting me dizzy.

Beautifully crafted redemption (of character) story - thoroughly enjoyable.
