Edison's Professor, Shadow Elite #3 by Jocelynn Drake

Resourceful professor on the run meets clever demolitions expert and bullets as well as hearts fly. Ed and Edison's Professor, Max, are meant to be together as long as they can survive tomb raiders and Max's past.

From the blurb:

The stranger chose him.

Edison Walker had never seen the man with the wide green eyes before. He only knew that he was in trouble.

And that he took one look at Ed and decided he was his haven. His protector.

Ed would not let him down.

With the jeweled scarab the stranger pressed into his hand and the strange note written in ancient Egyptian, the Shadow Elite mercenaries are off to Cairo to find the stolen professor.

Edison’s Professor is the third full-length novel in the Shadow Elite series and features mercenaries, ancient treasure, danger, explosions, a short grumpy Egyptologist who can be very overprotective of his mercenary, cuddly couples, and love on the run in Egypt.

SNik's Review:

Third in series (Shadow Elite), best if read in order. POC representation. Instalove. Found family. Dual POV.

It really must be fate when archeologist Max runs into mercenary Edison and asks him for help, and Ed certainly delivers. Max might know where a famed tomb lies in Egypt and Ed is determined to protect him from treasure hunters, so the group of mercenaries Ed calls family is there to help as they try to stay one step ahead of the bad guys.

Max is a man with a past, a survivor, a fighter, and he is immediately smitten with the big, sexy, intelligent Edison, and the chemistry between them builds quickly. Edison can’t help falling for the brainy professor, as Max is passionate about his work and Ed, and they fall for each other quickly with sweet conversations and spicy interactions. Max’s feistiness was a great match for Ed’s calm demeanor, and Max appreciates Ed’s love of explosives while Ed is happy to listen to Max wax poetic about ancient history.

The action, the fun, supportive secondary cast of deadly mercenaries and partners, choosing your family, and swoony improvised picnics on the floor is everything promised in this series.

Jacquie's Review:

Edison's Professor is another great adventure from the Shadow Elite. While this could probably be read as a standalone as the background information is given, I think reading them in order will give a better experience.

Ed was such a sweet cinnamon roll! Max was his little kitten. Adored the pair and their Egyptian adventure. There's a lot of found family vibes going on here and their story is left pretty open, how will they make things work? It'll be interesting to see where it ends up.

The epilogue sets up West's story and, after the teasing throughout this one, I'm really looking forward to this.
