Chasing You by Felicity Snow

Chasing You was a fast-paced, contemporary tale of lost love and bad timing. Felicity Snow had been on the edge of my seat from page one, right up until the very end. She seamlessly took me from past to present, weaving an old life into a new one and kept me guessing almost the whole way.

From the blurb:

Emmett has never been in love before. And he never expected that his first time would be with someone he can't pursue a relationship with.

Cash is amazing. Kind, intelligent, humorous, passionate. He has a breathtaking smile and his laughter is contagious. But he's also eighteen, and Emmett's student. He knows his feelings can't lead to anything, so he does his best to ignore them, block them out, until Cash graduates and leaves for college on the other side of the country. He won't have to look at him anymore, or think about him anymore. He can go back to his life before Cash Christian ever entered it and stole his heart.

And it works, for five years, until Cash comes back. When Emmett runs into him again all the feelings he thought had vanished come rushing back. And it's terrifying. Because Emmett is engaged, and getting married in three months.

To make things worse, Cash is working with him now, and they are spending more time together than ever before. In the end, Emmett is torn between doing what he feels is right, and following his heart. Does he commit to the woman he proposed to? Or does he finally tell Cash how he feels?

Ms Aimers Review:

Chasing You is Felicity Snow’s debut novella. I would never have guessed it was her debut if she hadn’t openly disclosed it on her social media.

O.M.G! I was supposed to be working, but my mind kept going back to Cash and Emmett. Emmett and Cash first meet when Cash is a senior in high school, and Emmett is one of his teachers. Fast forward to Cash moving back to town after graduating from university, and we start getting to the meaty part of the story.

The attraction is still there, but Emmett is engaged to be married to a woman. Felicity does an amazing job of describing the inner turmoil Emmett feels after seeing Cash again after five years. There is so much pining going on for one another. Everything comes to a head when they both chaperone a school field trip and lo and behold, the hotel made a mistake and booked them in a room with just one bed. I’m a sucker for forced proximity and their awareness of each other was everything I could have hoped for. I appreciated the epilogue with a glimpse into their future. Yes, they get a happily ever after. 💞

For being a novella, I became very emotionally invested in Cash and Emmett. I appreciated the depth of the character development. Even the supporting characters like Cash’s parents were fleshed out. Speaking of which, I loved how supportive Cash’s parents were! Once you read the book, you’ll realize how fitting the cover design is too.

I highly recommend giving Chasing You a read once it releases on Valentine’s Day!

Holly's Review:

Emmet is a vivacious, passionate teacher who is hopelessly in love with one of his students, taking the past of least resistance and he never acts on his feelings. Little did he know that the endearing Cash felt the same way the whole time. As Cash heads off to Stanford, Emmet moves on, until five years later a grown Cash turns up just months before Emmet is set to be married.

After trying to stay apart the two end up not only working at the same school but chaperoning a trip together, and sharing a room. Even this doesn’t tip the scales, but with obviously growing feelings, it’s only a matter of time. Who will make the first move? Will they both get their HEA? I highly recommend you read this story to find out, you won’t be disappointed, and I’ll definitely be on the lookout for more Felicity Snow books in my future.

Sheena's Review:

As I understand it, this is a debut novel for this author. It certainly doesn't seem that way, I was drawn in right from the start and actually read the whole thing start to finish in one sitting. I liked the setting, and the characters right from the off.

The longing between the two is palpable, it's right there and it pours out of them both. Emmett first, because you get his POV first without knowing anything about Cash, really. Then there's a bit of a time jump and Emmett seems settled with his life and his fiancee until he meets Cash again, and we then get his POV.

I loved how supportive Cash's parents were, right through everything he's been through. It was great to see how they both knew him so well that they never worried he'd get involved with a teacher when he was a student, and I'm glad it didn't go down that path.

It's not 5 stars purely because I felt the ending was a little rushed, the matter of Emmett's wedding and his fiancee was kind of brushed aside when it could have been a little more important, and I did feel bad for Harper, she was kind of swept under the carpet to rush toward the ending.

It was a nice HEA though, and I'm glad they relocated and built a life together. This was a great first start to this writer, and I'd definitely look for more in future.

Angel's Review:

Chasing You by Felicity Snow was an interesting yet enjoyable read! The format in which this was written was extremely unique, I don't think I've read a book quite like this one before.

Emmett is Cash's teacher, or at least he was before Cash graduated. Emmett was drawn to Cash while he was still a student, and seven years later he still is attracted to him. Except now he gets to know him even better as a man, not just as Emmett's student. The problem ? Emmett's engaged. But his heart still wants to be with Cash.

I enjoyed this book, it was really well written and I couldn't help but to be drawn into this story. I read this in one setting, I just couldn't put it down! I think the ending was a bit rushed but overall, great!

Even though this started as a teacher/student relationship, I was cheering for them the whole time! I'm glad they finally found a way to be together.

Miki J's Review:

Wow!!! What a great debut novel! Initially, I was hesitant to read the book as I would avoid any love-triangles, etc... but this one is certainly not that. It's told from 2 POV's - initially it's mainly Emmett's, but we then get Cash's POV as the story unfolds.

The author takes you on a real emotional rollercoaster - I was crying, then laughing and crying again.  The story itself just feels so realistic - and truly, you do need to find what makes you happy. I love finding new authors and can't wait to see what Felicity Snow will release next!!
