Under the Mistletoe by A.E. Madsen

A kiss Under the Mistletoe sparks something for Flynn, not realizing that Nicky has had a crush on him for years. Can they make a relationship work now that they are at college together and tell their families they are a couple?

From the blurb:

Under the Mistletoe

Nicky
I’ve had a crush on Flynn for years; I even followed him to college. But when we finally kiss instead of sparks flying, it proves he doesn’t think of me that way. Maybe it’s time I accept it and move on.

Flynn
Kissing under mistletoe is just a silly holiday tradition. Besides Nicky is my little brother’s best friend, and it was barely a peck. It shouldn’t matter that I see him kissing another guy a few days later. So why do I have the urge to walk over there, drag him into my arms, and kiss him senseless?

Under the Mistletoe is a best friend’s brother Christmas Novella. This is a spin-off from the Blue Mountain University series and includes some character appearances from those books, but it’s not necessary to read that series first.

SNik's Review:

Standalone but takes place in the author’s Blue Mountain University series universe. Best friend's brother. Slow burn. Quick read. Dual POV.

Nicky has had a crush on his best friend’s brother for years, and now that he and Flynn are at the same college, he can only hope for more. Flynn doesn’t realize Nicky likes him, but after seeing him with another guy he decides maybe there is something more there than friendship and it's worth the risk to try for a relationship.

There is pining, and some cute interactions between Flynn and Nicky and I appreciated that Flynn wanted to try to slow things down a bit. The secondary characters didn’t add a huge amount to the story, even when Flynn and Nicky were hesitant to tell Flynn’s brother, but overall, a fun read. Cute HEA for this short holiday read.

Janet's Review:

Under the Mistletoe takes place in the Blue Mountain University series. Nicky has had a crush on his best friend’s brother Flynn since he met him. He blushes nonstop whenever he’s around Flynn. Flynn just thinks Nicky is his brother’s best friend and really doesn’t think much about it until a friend mentions how Nicky is crushing on him.

When they share kiss under the mistletoe, Flynn makes a comment that kind of deflates Nicky’s crush. Nicky decides to move on, but now Flynn is interested.

This was cute! Sweet with steam and spice! Fantastic story that hooked me and didn’t let me go until I flipped to the last page. Well written with great pacing!

Heather's Review:

Under the Mistletoe is a sweet, slow build college/new adult holiday romance featuring a brother's best friend crushing on an older guy and the best friend's brother who is clueless to Nicky's feelings...

It's got humour, meddling friends, emerging feelings and a holiday HEA that is sweet and lovely.
