From the Blurb:

The Former Marine Corp Corporal faces his next battle of the heart.

Connor McIntyre’s life was finally headed in the right direction. He is in a stable, committed relationship with the handsome, sexy and loving Jamel Jones. He is no longer in the closet, and his friends, mother and sisters accept all of him and love him just the same. His organization, Vinnie’s Vet Buddies, is doing well with him as the C.E.O. He lives in a beautiful home with two amazing dogs and his best friend Afia is now his sister-in-law. Life could not be more perfect.

Suddenly Connor finds himself facing attempted murder charges. It divides his family so deeply that Connor draws closer to Jamel’s family and finds support, solace, and acceptance there. As the trial begins and hidden secrets begin to come out one by one, whether innocent or guilty, the verdict could change his life, forever.

Excerpt:

Two days later, we got the call from Barron. “Jury is back. Meet us at the courthouse in one hour.”

Jamel turned to me. “Who do you want me to call?”

“No one. Either I come home, or I don’t.” He nodded, but then I changed my mind. “Tell your folks and my sisters. That’s it. Just family.”

“Okay.”

We drove over without talking. They were already waiting for me at the top of the steps: Major Wendel Jones, Mama Denita, Lavell, Donny and Ty, with Afia, Angie, but also Jack.

“Who told you?” I asked Jack.

“I called him,” Lovie said. “He's family, too.”

“And you know I’m always here for you, Connor,” he said sincerely. “You'll never go through this alone.” I gave him a small smile and patted his shoulder.

We all walked into the courthouse and the courtroom together. Everyone looked at my entourage. Mary Kate smiled at me, and I smiled back. Owen scowled at me, but also at all the faces around me. He truly hated the fact that I am loved.

When everyone was seated, I turned to Jamel but I couldn’t speak. He slowly ran his hand through the side of my hair, across my neck and shoulder, down my arm, and held onto my wrist. We stared at each other, then I gently touched his face and put my forehead on his. I closed my eyes and allowed myself to feel all my feelings for him.

No words were needed between us. He knows I love him, and I know he loves me, now, forever, and always. If I go away, he’ll wait for me.

I stepped back first and gave him a chaste kiss on his lips before sitting at the defendant’s table. I would not turn back around no matter what the verdict was.
