And I had thought that my week was starting off so well. For once, I hadn’t slept through my alarm. I managed to squeak in my semi-regular 5-mile run before breakfast. I actually had time to eat breakfast before heading to work. And I remembered to do laundry over the weekend, so my usual school outfit of track pants and a school branded t-shirt didn’t smell too much like stale, funky dude-sweat for once.  

But nothing says definitely not winning at life quite like being squatted down behind the bulky frame of my SUV trying to hide from a tiny, barely 5’1”, slip of a woman. Who impatiently hovered outside the entrance to the high school we both worked at, holding a Tupperware container. At least, still in the win column, there was no one else in the parking lot to observe my cowardice.
