Spotlight on Love (Speak Its Name #3) by Kristian Parker

"A fascinating historical romance which drags the reader back in time!" Our reviewer, Tatted_book_freak on Spotlight on Love.

From the blurb:

If love conquers all, George Lomax has its biggest challenge yet…
It’s 1923 and George Lomax is on the run. Not from the law but from his boss, the predatory stage company manager Waldo Waddington. George came to London from the States in a Harlem-style musical, but Waldo demands more than just a good performance on the stage from the males in his cast. Fleeing, George arrives at Safe Haven Boarding House in Brighton and immerses himself in the loving, accepting world of Tanner, Charlie, Frank and Michael. A stroll in the local park brings him to Stanley Butterworth, a war veteran who’s experienced his own horrors, and it’s love at first sight for the two very different men. But Waldo is hot on George’s heels, using George’s employment contract and visa to drag him back into his clutches. Can George find a way to not only be free but be free to love Stanley…if Stanley can overcome his own demons to love him back? Reader advisory: This book contains homophobia and racism.

𝕃𝕠𝕧𝕖 𝕙𝕒𝕕𝕟’𝕥 𝕓𝕖𝕖𝕟 𝕠𝕟 𝕞𝕪 𝕒𝕘𝕖𝕟𝕕𝕒 𝕨𝕙𝕖𝕟 𝕀’𝕕 𝕤𝕖𝕥 𝕠𝕦𝕥 𝕚𝕟 𝕤𝕖𝕒𝕣𝕔𝕙 𝕠𝕗 𝕗𝕣𝕖𝕖𝕕𝕠𝕞…𝕓𝕦𝕥 𝕚𝕥 𝕙𝕒𝕕 𝕗𝕠𝕦𝕟𝕕 𝕞𝕖. Spotlight on Love is a sweet and adorable quick read for this third installment of the Speak Its Name series. I absolutely loved the dynamic of the story, though I had to keep reminding myself of the era of time. Though Kristian does display a way with words that brings you back to their era, as if I were right alongside the characters. “𝕃𝕒𝕤𝕥 𝕠𝕟𝕖 𝕚𝕟 𝕚𝕤 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕓𝕠𝕥𝕥𝕠𝕞 𝕥𝕠𝕟𝕚𝕘𝕙𝕥,” George and Stanley were perfectly matched, even if it was never planned for. Their connection was magical, like a missing piece of a puzzle. And their chemistry was absolutely enchanting! And, their ability to have a good time while together just added to their undeniable connection! I have really enjoyed this series, looking forward to more…

LCDolphin's Review:

This novella has the depth of a novel. George Lomax is an American singer who has come to England with his group. Stanley Butterworth is a veteran of the war and has taken a menial job as a gardener. This is instant attraction, but you can see why. Loved the characters, the story and the side characters. This would be a 5star book, but I don't enjoy first person writing, so had to go down one half star on my rating.
