Knocked for Six (Caught Off Guard #2) by Willow Thomas

A few of the team jumped to pick up Knocked for Six when it came up for review.

From the blurb:

No hooking up with teammates. We can’t stand each other so it should be simple. Right?

My best friend just got expelled and the coach has already filled his spot with someone who lacks passion for the game. Hockey means everything to me. I’m not going to let him ruin my chances at playing in the NHL.

After a blow up during a game, we have no choice but to take part in team bonding. Every time he looks at me with his fiery green eyes, sparks fly. Especially when I find out he’s never been kissed.

One taste has me tossing the rules aside and needing more of him. It’s OK though. It’s not as if we’re going to catch feelings…

Knocked for Six is a steamy, funny, enemies to lovers, MM hockey romance, that is low on angst and has a HEA. It is book two in the Caught Off Guard series and can be read as a standalone.

Janet's Review:

Knocked for Six was a short novella. A fun quick read with Max and Bron.

They have that enemy/hate vibe going on strong! So much tension. Max is Milo’s friend from Bolt from the Blue, Bron is Austin’s teammate. Bron is still mad that Max has taken his friends place on the hockey team. They both snark and banter at each other until their coach does something about it.

If you like forced proximity, enemies to lovers tropes, then this is for you!

Overall, this is a great, fun and quick read, Well written with nice pacing.

Heather's Review:

Knocked for Six was a quick, fun read with strong enemies to lovers, forced proximity and sexual tension...   I loved the banter and the team dynamic that pushed Bron and Max along to having to face their chemistry.  It was the perfect book to use to take my mind off the current heat wave and just sink into the hockey world and dream of ice rinks... With strong new adult vibes and great, funny characters, this one hit the back of the net!

KjnRose's Review:

This was such a great addition to the series. I loved reading about Bron and Max and their adventure.

The chemistry was there from the beginning, Bron was just using it in the wrong way. I loved this book and can't wait for the next one.

Miki.J's Review:

This book does cover a lot of different tropes - enemies to lovers; sports; university based characters/setting; found family/friends; new awakenings and you could even say insta-love (once they acted on the attraction).

Also, I would say that this is more of a novella as it's a fast read.  Same characters from Book 1 are here and while you could read this book without it, it's helpful to flesh out some of the comments/scenerios.

The thing that bugged me was that I wasn't totally sold on the fast turn-around on the feelings - Bron didn't seem all that remorseful ... otherwise a good book to read without too much angst and HEA.
