Ten Things about ... CD Rachels, An Author Interview

I got to chat with indie author CD Rachels about their writing process and more.. .CD Rachels has two published works - The Lines We Draw and The Moves We Make!

Check out our Ten Things Interview:

Indie or Traditionally published? - Tell us how this works for you…
– I’m an indie publisher, so I’m doing all of this so far on my spare time. It’s a lot of learning as i go along, and hopefully each book is better with the knowledge I’ve gained.

Plot or Pants?  Do you pre-plot your books, use an outline, fly by the seat of your pants or some combination of things?  How do you keep track of characters in a series?  Do you keep a journal of your characters’ statistics, such as hair and eye color, relatives, hometown, etc.
– I pre-plot some parts of my books, but mostly i Pants it. I have ideas of the characters and where they need to go and what scenes need to part of the story, then i let the words flow to “connect the dots.”

Do you write full time or part-time?
– Part-time

Something people would be surprised to know about you
– I guess that I’m a man who lives in New York City and works from home in health insurance? I don’t know what surprises people!

What’s the hardest part about writing M/M romance or erotica?
–I think the hardest part of writing MM romance is trying to stand out. There’s so many books and so many talented authors, and as much as we love the tropes, each author wants their book to be remembered in the readers.

What is the funniest scene you’ve written?
–In “The Moves We Make”, one of the main character’s Dad, Dane’s Dad grills his love interest. I crack up every time i read it. I don’t want to spoil too much.

Who’s your biggest supporter/cheerleader?
–The people i dedicate my books to, the one’s I’ve met on Facebook. The MM romance readership and authors online are so supportive!

Where do you find inspiration?
–Everywhere. Every time i see a man who’s even remotely attractive i think “Hm, what’s his story?” Of course, i don’t say that out loud.

What is your favorite thing about writing M/M romance?
– i read romance for the feels. It’s corny and amazing and i love it. I get to live a thousand lives through hundreds of happily ever afters. My next favorite thing is the community of readers and friends i’ve made online, you’re all amazing.

How can we connect with you?
–I’m very active on facebook and instagram! And i love direct messages! Come join my facebook group “CD Rachels’ Chill Discourse Room” ! Instagram @cdrachels
