Love Bites (Love Bank Romance #3) by Duckie Mack

Sheena calls Love Bites "a slow burn, sweet love story with a demi MC."

From the blurb:

Jonah might have hit it big as a member of a rock band, but his dreams go beyond music. His heart belongs in the kitchen. A food truck seems like the perfect solution to let him do both.

Donovan "Van" has worked hard for his restaurant on wheels. He won’t let anything get in the way of his passion, not even a new guy crashing onto the food truck scene.

Jonah and Van might have gotten off to a rough start, but when Jonah needs help, Van is the one who shows up. Can these two competitors become companions?

Love Bites is a sweet story of pursuing dreams, discovery, and finding your way to love one bite at a time.

The Love Bank Romance series features sweet LGBTQ love stories with a little heat.

Sheena's Review:

Love Bites is the 3rd in the Love Bank series, it can be read as a total standalone though. We do meet Jonah briefly in the other books but only in passing. Van is a totally new character.

With each book in this series, the author has given us something different. This time one of the MCs is demisexual - although that's never mentioned outright, it fits with everything Jonah feels and does, really. Although Jonah and Van start out with a really rocky start, that's soon resolved and it's a sweet story of two people finding each other through a shared love of cooking.

It's a nice slow burn, I liked how they take their time getting to know each other and I loved how understanding Van was with Jonah, these two were just so sweet with each other. I liked how slowly they took things, and it was nice to see the slow blossoming of their relationship. There's also a fair bit of heat there too, when they found that level of trust and connection.

There's not much in the way of angst, so if you're looking for a sweet, cute slow burn story with a demi MC then this is for you.

Amy_tbs' Review:

Love Bites is the first book by Duckie Mack that I have read. I didn't really know what to expect going in to this. Having not been familiar with the authors writing style and previous books in the Love Bank series. But I just knew I would love this from the synopsis. This had quite a few tropes in it that certainly hit the spot for me, grumpy/Sunshine, demisexual/sexual awakening, slight Enemies-to-lovers and inexperienced virgin and an out of practice partner 😉

This was a super cutesy, light read that was perfect for giving me an uplifting lovey dovey feeling. This is a great spring/summer read that will put a skip in your step.

Although this is a super cute there was some added depth to it, our main characters both had complexities that aren't obvious straight away. I loved the pacing of this story and I'm a complete sucker for slow burn romances. I love witnessing the transformation of our characters and seeing their added layers. We are brought on a Journey of demi-sexuality through Jonah and also Van's vulnerable/self protective instincts that really pulled on my heart strings. Van and Jonah are absolutely perfect together and I couldn't help swooning over them. I also really loved Damon and Del and I'm just praying we see a romance in the future for them two.

I highly recommend Love Bites and can't wait to read the previous books in the series

Heather's Review:

Love Bites is a sweet, patient new adult love story that starts with a misunderstanding and builds slowly.  I love that the tension is right up front - assumptions and hurt feelings open the relationship so that there's no where to go but up!

The Love Bank (the series title and a charity that operates a food pantry) only features briefly in this story, but it's a sweet cameo that helps bring Jonah and Van together.

I love that Duckie Mack chose to make Jonah demi-sexual and demi-romantic and that he and Van explore their relationship slowly and build to each new level.

If you're looking for a sweet, deep new adult romance with a slow burn, yummy food and most of the angst up front, you'll love Love Bites!
