A new series that combines the adventure and magic of epic fantasy with the enchantment of romance

Blurb

Darkness grows in the realm of Taleth. To the west, a power-hungry despot schemes to conquer kingdoms and territories alike by chasing an ancient elven prophecy that could give him the power to rule all. In the east, after a prince’s murder goes years unanswered, a princess learns there was much more to her brother’s death—and to her life—than she realized.

The House of Kjenelach is shaken to its foundation when Princess Sigrid is stolen away. Her faithful guardian, Sir Senne Clayward, reluctantly accepts help from his nemesis, a notorious halfling mercenary of questionable morals—but indispensable tracking skills—called Kasimir vas Hjardar.

Kasimir makes his living hunting monsters, both creatures and men. While he exists outside the law, he lives by his own unassailable code of honor. At the top of that list: never harm a child. When he turns down a contract to kidnap Sigrid and later finds out she was taken by someone else, he offers his help to the prickly knight tasked with protecting her.

Together, they embark upon a journey across the continent to save Sigrid and foil King Prosper’s plans to conquer Taleth. The way is fraught with dangers and pitfalls, from supernatural beasts to Senne’s deathly fear of magic, but they must not fail, for Sigrid may very well be the savior of the realm: the long prophesied Aisnellach Fuil. Somehow, the two men must set their differences aside and work together to rescue Sigrid, and possibly find love along the way.

Thus again was a new to me author. I am amazed how many new to me authors I have discovered whose work I enjoy.

This is a fantasy story set in a well thought out world. The author provides a glossary, map an explanation of people and lands at the beginning of this book which I like to defer to. I also appreciate that the author uses historic words for objects, it challenges me as a non native reader to use my brain and sometimes the dictionary 😉.

Now back to the story; this is a fantasy mm paranormal book with what you could call quest in there. Sir Senne is the guard for the younger princess Sigrid, who has been kidnapped by a king who is hungry for more power. After she and Senne fought the first attack off. He and a blade for hire Kasimir, who was once rescued by Sigrid and gave his order back to kidnap or kill her, set out to get her back. The have many an adventure while they travel through the lands, I appreciated all the effort creating the different types of magical, non-magical and other paranormal creatures. Along the way more is explained of the background of both Senne and Kasimir and they each need to learn how to become more comfortable in themselves and how they are stronger together in love and in each and every skirmish and fighr against their opponents

It took me a bit to get into the story but when I was fully emerged and found that I really enjoyed all the strong characters might it be woman, man, witch, fay and anything in between. I am looking forward to the next installment to see how brave and feisty Sigririd finds her way to freedom and also how the story between Senne and Kasimir develops and of course to see how the whole story develops further. If you are a proper paranormal fantasy lover this series will be eight up your ally.

Epic, loved it could be the next GoT, as surely as the author mentions it is cross between a fairytale and GoT I think it could be true
