Is there a worse time to become infatuated than when you're serving as a key witness in a trial that includes some of the richest men around and the mafia, too? Find out in Save Me by Beck Grey!
Deputy US Marshal Jamie MacDougall assumes his latest assignment is just another security detail, but when he finds himself falling for the gorgeous key witness he’s sworn to protect, it takes everything he has to keep things professional.
When Ashley Pandy enters the WITSEC program, with a new identity and a new life far away from Seattle and Jamie, he tries to move on, but a year later, with no hope of seeing him again, he still can’t forget the man who stole his heart.
Ashley walked away from love for noble reasons. Jamie let him go because it was the honorable thing to do. When a foolish decision gives them a second chance to be all kinds of wrong, can they finally get it right?
Heather's Review:
The beginning of the book is a little bit of a rush, we get just a glimpse of Jamie and Ashley's interactions and Jamie's musings before the book cuts to a year later and the romance really begins... Other than needing to manage my expectations by adjusting the blurb, the rest of the book was amazing!
I absolutely love both Ashley and Jamie and their interactions once they are thrown together again after a year - based on Jamie's need to revisit an important part of his past and gets caught up in trouble all over again.
The writing is sound, the heat is smoldering and the ending is of course a HEA! I encourage you to get through the beginning of Save Me and then hold on for the ride!
Angel's review:
Ashley and Jamie's story is unconventional, well, its unconventional for them. Ashley is a key witness in a very important trial against dangerous people, Jamie is part of the team who's protecting Ashley until he goes off to Witness Protection. Ashley is attracted to the man who showed him kindness but he knows that Jamie is off limits.... Or is he?This story starts off with Ashley being under Jamie's protection and we get to see the unusual bond that forms between the both of them. I liked that we got a bit of a 'before' moment and then the current events that are ongoing. I liked that glimpse of the past and how these two originally met. It helped give more backstory to both of these men.
Ashley is sassy and prickly but he also cares deeply about those he loves and that's what ultimately puts him back in danger. That's where Jamie comes back into the picture and even though they are on the run and in danger, you can tell how much these two men truly care about each other. I liked Ashely and Jamie together, they are so different from one another personality wise but I think that's what makes them work so well together.
I enjoyed the scenes where they got to know one another better and when they were cooking together, I found those moments to be really monumental to their relationship and those special moments helped build up the emotions between these two. Don't get me wrong, I liked Ashley, but Jamie is my favorite. He's such a sweetheart and he cares so deeply about his family and for Ashley, I just loved seeing him get his own happily ever after! All in all, a well written book with great characters, and while it is a shorter story its not lacking anything.
