His Eternal Temptation (Bound in Blood Book 1) by Colette Rivera

Lane knows he's dying, but he has to warn Rowan that he and his vampire coven may be in danger. But when Rowan saves him, and unexpectedly binds them together, they find once they can trust each other there is no stopping the connection they have.

From the blurb:

Bound to the enemy.

Rowan Valero rules Shearwater Landing. Some see him as a ruthless vampire, others as a protector of the disadvantaged. In order to be both, Rowan must know his enemies from his friends. Who to trust and who to keep outside his walls.

And no one may have his heart.

Lane Blackburn is desperate. Nothing short of a deadly curse could have brought him to Rowan’s door, but here he is, hoping the vampire he had a misguided crush on will save an old enemy’s life.

The last time Rowan saw Lane, the witch was a spy sent to seduce him. So why does seeing him so close to death tug on Rowan’s heartstrings? Is it Lane’s choice to waste his would-be last breath on a warning, or is it more?

Rowan saves Lane, but it comes at an unforeseen price. The curse binds him and Lane together. They can’t be more than a few feet apart without Lane returning to the brink of death.

It’s the kind of mistake that could bring Rowan’s empire crumbling to the ground, or worse: expose what lies hidden in his heart.

SNik's review:

First in series (Bound in Blood). Paranormal. Adversarial to lovers. Forced proximity. Light BDSM. Dual POV. Heed content warnings.

A curse has brought a dying Lane to Rowan’s front door, but his savior has accidentally bound them and now they have to stay close or Lane suffers. Rowan can’t trust Lane, they have history, and Rowan is already dealing with feral vampires let alone some new coven trying to take him down.

With their misunderstood past, Lane and Rowan’s growing relationship has to overcome mistrust and difficult personal histories. I enjoyed the way they begin to communicate honestly and see each other behind their walls, the forced proximity giving them a second chance to really know each other. I appreciated that Lane was exactly the kind of person that Rowan needs and that Lane understands all sides of Rowan. The turn from wary attraction to the intimate scenes happened a little quickly for me, but I did like their dynamic together. Overall, an entertaining storyline with interesting secondary characters that will become couples in upcoming entries to the series.
