Take one injured mob boss and mix with the doctor he has to kidnap that he finds intriguing. Rian hasn’t felt like this with anyone since his wife died, but he can’t let Abbott live, it’s too much of a risk to his family.
Does Abbott quickly fall for the man that plans to kill him? Yes. And Rian is equally smitten, but the ticking clock really makes the romantic moments bittersweet, and I spent a lot of time worrying about what would happen to these men that just really clicked. I really enjoyed that once Rian realized his attraction to Abbott there was no hesitation or angst about it besides worrying that Abbott could endanger Rian’s family. I liked seeing the guys from the Sins of the Father series and their relationships with Rian as well as the further introduction of the men in Rian’s close circle. Although it happens quickly we do get to see that Abbott and RIan really connect on a lot of levels, and the instalove was fine for me. There is plenty of spice between them and a little bit of plotline that will carry over in the series that seems interesting.
