This entry to the series has more political intrigue and more romance as Pelun and Tores solidify their relationship in secret while trying to help the people of Tond.
Communication is touch and go, as Pel and Tor are honest with each other at times but still keeping things from being said out loud. The plotline with the exiles and the possible cracks in how the realms are navigating peace becomes more relevant. I enjoyed the times where it was just Pel and Tor on page together, and there is a slow build to the overall plot which ramps up in the last part of the book. Overall, a good addition to the series as Pel and Tor seem pretty strong together and I am interested to see where the finale leads them.
