The Heart's Blood Arrow (San Amaro Investigations, Book 5) by Kai Butler; Narrated by Greg Tremblay

Everything revolves around love and family ties in this entry to the San Amaro Investigations series. Missing succubae, Nick's family causing problems, and Parker struggling to ask Nick to fae marry him.

From the blurb:

An old nemesis is out for blood....

Parker Ferro’s life would be easier if his enemies stayed gone. When the man responsible for the death of Parker’s mother breaks out of prison, Parker finds himself in the crosshairs of the Bureau of Paranormal Threats when he tracks the criminal down.

With succubae going missing, an old god on the loose, and his boyfriend’s mother in town, the last thing Parker has time for is human politics. But with a marriage proposal that he can’t quite figure out and mysteries that keep landing him in hot water with the feds, Parker must keep one step ahead or end up in handcuffs himself.

The Heart's Blood Arrow is a 130,000-word MM urban fantasy with an HFN ending and an ongoing storyline. It cannot be listened to as a stand-alone.

SNik's review:

Fifth in series (San Amaro Investigations), must be read in order due to continuing characters and overarching storyline. Paranormal urban fantasy. Found family. Established couple. Single POV.

Expanding the series to even more outside of the fae and his role as the Windrose, in this book Parker is investigating missing succubae and more threats to the human realm surrounding the Mother’s Crown.
As usual, there is a lot of action, interaction with familiar secondary characters, and Parker struggling with expressing his commitment to Nick.

Enjoyed the intrigue, the suspense, and the small romantic moments between Parker and Nick. I wish Nick’s parents weren’t jerks; I wish Parker didn’t have to hide that he is a fae, I wish that Parker and Nick could have a nice place and some more downtime together, and I believe that the author is moving all of the pieces towards that end for an HEA.

I did try to take my time reading this book because I enjoy this world, the adventure, and all its characters. However, as most good reads, it was over before I wanted it to be. Another fun entry to the San Amaro Investigations series.

I really feel like Greg Tremblay embodies Parker to a tee. There were times where he brought tears to my eyes with how Parker loves and sacrifices for Nick and their family. Another fantastic listen.
