There's a new charismatic DJ in town and when he first meets paramedic Hunter he is immediately entranced, However, Hunter has been hurt in the past and opening himself up to Leo seems like a rough hill to climb, but Leo makes it seem so easy.
From the blurb:
Leo
I know how to make people fall in love for a living. What I don’t know? How to make it happen for me.
Then Hunter Rhodes walks into my world—quiet, guarded, and completely immune to my charm. He doesn’t flirt back. Doesn’t lean in. Doesn’t make it easy.
Which only makes me want him more. Because for the first time, I don’t want a fleeting moment. I want something real.
I want him.
Hunter
I don’t do chaos.
I don’t do complicated.
And I definitely don’t do men like Leo MacKenzie.
He’s everything I avoid—bright, relentless, impossible to ignore. But somehow… I can’t walk away.
One dance turns into something more, and the closer he gets, the harder it is to keep my distance.
That’s the problem. Because I know what happens when you let someone in.
But losing him?
That might be worse.
The DJ’s Protector is an MM contemporary small town romance packed with humor, hurt/comfort, slow-burn chemistry, and meddling small town charm. It is part of the Piper Falls: Paramedics series, but can be enjoyed as a standalone.
SNik's review:
Part of a multi-author series (Piper Falls Paramedics), but can be read as a standalone. Small town. Opposites attract. Slow burn. Dual POV.
An outgoing DJ new to a small town sets his sights on a quiet paramedic that isn’t interested in letting anyone close. But there’s something about Leo’s patience and humor that slowly allows Hunter to trust again and fall in love.
This story was a sweet story of one man pursuing another in an earnest manner and allowing the other to decide whether to let him close. I enjoyed all of the texting and conversations between Hunter and Leo, and there was a ton of introspection from each character which may be good or bad depending on the reader but I felt like it added to their romance. There were supportive side characters, some humorous DJ events, and two men building something that seems like it will last. I really liked the epilogues that give a glimpse of their HEA.
