Molly Otto's review:
To follow his dreams Raylen must leave his home to be the best archer he can be, on the eve of his departure Sylar tells the story of the Archer and their companion who must stay behind but will always lead them home. Sylar however stays home to become a tutor but continue learning about the stars that he loves so much. Ten years later, our men with the ‘help’ of their sisters come to meet once again. Sylar cannot help but follow Raylen’s path over the years, never knowing what facts is and what is gossip, when they meet again the boy is now a man. Raylen has always cherished that night with Sylar and cannot wait to see Sylar again. Two paths that were always made to come back together, get this second chance at something permanent. Their stories are perfectly fleshed out in a way that it’s hard to fathom this depth could happen in such few words. A longer story would have taken away from the magic, that is their start of their chance at being together. Loved how they both calmed and pumped each other to achieve their dreams while proving they both were ready for this next step. With an epilogue that brought the story to a beautiful close, I cannot recommend this story enough.
Angel's review:
“I’ve traveled every road in this world, chasing horizons and looking for a place where I could finally breathe,” I reply, my voice dropping to a rough, low whisper meant only for him. “And every single one of them led me back to you. I’m done running, Sy. I’m home.”
The variation in thjs magical series so far has been an absolutely splendid experience! Kota's book is about two elves from the same village who bonded over their love of the stars, reuniting after years, due to their mischievous sisters' meddling.
I'll start off by saying that one of the aspects of this story I liked the most was how when Sy and Raylen reunited, they discovered things about each other they never knew before. Like how their assumptions of each other were completely wrong. Sy always believed that Raylen was a bit of an arrogant elf that was too sure of himself, but in reality, he couldn't have been more wrong with that assumption. I enjoyed reading about these two truly getting to know one another on a personal level, and the way they encouraged each other about the things they each were passionate about was so cute to read about!
Also, can we talk about Cinder?!? I think this series has had some of the cutest side characters/pets ever! I have loved seeing the uniqueness when it comes to each of the pets/sidekick that have been written about so far, they're just so adorable!!
Oh! And I cannot forget to point out the little easter egg I found that was a nod to another book in this series! "Beacon Sure-of-Foot is participating in the caber toss."
I was so thrilled when I saw that character, and that book mentioned, I'm so excited to read that story and the rest of this series!!
