PARALYZE is Tek & Casey's side of PARADOX. An interesting, angst filled romance, featuring; Brother's best friend, best friend's brother, forced proximity, enemies to lovers, and a dom/sub dynamic. Plus so much more.
From the blurb:
This is everything I’ve ever wanted, exactly what I’ve spent the last thirteen years denying myself of, and it’s happening in a filthy alley with the kid I swore I’d never touch.
Carey—twenty-one, flirtatious and sun-kissed, chasing a place that feels like home. His latest bright idea? Fly halfway across the world to a town he hardly remembers, to crash for the holidays with his estranged older brother who he's scarcely seen in the past sixteen years. Only to arrive on his doorstep to find that brother AWOL and the entire contents of his apartment strewn across the front lawn.
Tek—thirty-four, exhausted, and barely holding it together. Deserted by his best friend and business partner, he's left to carry the weight of a tattoo shop in the aftermath of an affair that sent staff numbers from four to one in the space of a single afternoon. He keeps his world small, and his hookups controlled on purpose. Then Carey walks in like a damn storm, making Tek question everything he ever knew about himself. Including why he can't stop thinking about the golden tan of another man's stomach.
Tek turns Carey away but desperation rewards his persistence with a job offer, and boundaries start to blur. Tek knows better. He's spent the last decade with the world at arms length with iron clad rules that he breaks for no one, especially not the sunshine-smiling younger brother of his runaway best friend. But the more Tek resists, the more Carey leans in, and the line between right and wrong starts to look too appealing not to cross.
Abandonment may have brought them together, but loneliness is what keeps them close. And the one thing Tek swore he'd never reach for again might just give him the extra strength he's always needed.
Paralyze is a slow burn, male/male romance full of angst, pining, and a whole lot of tension. It stars a brooding and grumpy tattoo artist with the world on his shoulders, and a surfer boy with a sunshine smile that makes him question everything. This is opposites attract; a true black cat/golden retriever romance at its finest. There is also a backstory of trauma, so please check the TWs.

Molly Otto's review:
Loved to see Tek & Caseys side of the events from PARALYZE and how it affected them so fiercely. Tek is the bestie of Eden, while Casey is his sunshine younger brother, and when Eden up and leaves after his life crashes around him, Casey is left to pick up the pieces. Casey is the perfect match for Tek in showing him how to be able to open up once again after his horrible past, he’s understanding and supportive, yet still firm with Tek in his intentions. You get why Tek is the way he is, and why what Eden did hurt him so much, and seeing him slowly open to Casey was a magical thing to be apart of. Their chemistry is next level off the charts and keeps you griped at the edge of your seat from the get-go. This story is complete from PARADOX, where you can’t help but think how is this the same author? You feel all the emotions as fully just done in a different manner. Love to see such versatility in an author and can for one say I am a huge fan and cannot wait to see more from them in the future.
Angel's review:
I'm not super familiar with this author's writing and since I've been trying to read more new-to-me authors this year, I knew I wanted to read this. Now, this is technically the second book in this series, however, you do not need to read the first book before reading this one. Wanna know how I know? Because I've never read the first one and still enjoyed reading this book!
The way in which this book, and these characters were written, made it really easy to get drawn into. The writing immediately grabbed my attention, and the characters themselves kept me interested.
I will say, if you prefer low-angst books, I'm afraid this won't be the book for you. On the contrary, if you're like me and enjoy more angst filled romances, then you're going to LOVE this book.
Carey and Tek have an interesting dynamic, they definitely have an enemies to lovers relationship going on as well as their hatred for each other translating into just. It takes them a while before they start talking about their feelings, but once they do have that conversation is where this story really hit its stride.
I'm not usually a big fan of reading about Dom/Sub dynamics are humiliation kink, but i think it works here. It made sense that those aspects were apart of this book given how the characters are. While they still aren't my personal favorite to read anout, they definitely played there part within the book.
I know this might be a controversial opinion, but I do not like Eden, at all, and to be honest I'm not a huge fan of Jin either. There were even times where I wasn't a fan of Tek either, but he eventually won me over. Those other two, though? Not a chance. Haha!
All in all, I enjoyed this book and it was a great way to get 'introduced' to a new-to-me author.
