Embracing His Shame (Naughty in Pendleton) by Brigham Vaughn; Narrated by James Edward Jones

A well written story with an interesting kink.

From the blurb:

A bad boy mechanic and a kinky accountant: can an indecent proposal lead to love?

Though Forrest Patton looks like a tweedy, uptight accountant, he’s anything but. Underneath the fussy bow ties and love of color-coded spreadsheets lies a man searching for someone to peel back the layers and fulfill his shameful fantasies. Eavesdropping at the diner in town leads him to wonder if the local mechanic might just be the man for the job.

Jarod Keener likes it rough, and he makes no secret of that. But he never expects to be approached with an offer to trade accounting advice for some dirty, risky fun. Always up for a challenge, Jarod dives in headfirst but Forrest doesn’t trust anyone to give him the humiliation he needs once feelings start to get in the way.

When a secret about Jarod’s family upends everything, Forrest will have to decide if he’s willing to give Jarod a chance to show him that he can have love and the kink he longs for.

Embracing His Shame includes: mild humiliation play, small-town gossip, and two men falling in love despite their best efforts.

Lesetiger's review:

This is the second book in the *Naughty in Pendleton* series, and I was really looking forward to it because the first one was great.

Brigham Vaughn’s writing style is fantastic as always, so I got into the story very quickly.

I do like to read something with a kink every now and then, but I haven’t come across shame kink very often yet, so I was curious to see how the author handled it.

It’s about Forrest and Jarod, who come together in an unusual way and are actually quite different from each other. Forrest is a reserved accountant with a penchant for shame. Finding someone who suits him is difficult. Jarod is a handsome mechanic, a bad boy who is contradictory and emotional. And he understands Forrest very well and can definitely give him what he’s looking for.

I liked both characters. The chemistry between them was spot-on, and there were some steamy scenes. And of course, since they spend quite a bit of time together, it’s no surprise that emotions start to surface. The author wove this and their kinky journey together really well.

Besides the lovable characters, I was amazed that the kink worked so well. The author did a remarkable job with that, because as I was reading, I could feel that this was exactly what the two of them needed. There was also some drama, and overall, the book entertained me well.

That was partly thanks to narrator James Edward Jones, who once again did a fantastic job. The pacing was good, the characters had distinct voices that I could easily tell apart, and he conveyed the emotion well. It was a pleasure to listen to him. I’m already looking forward to the next volume!
