What happens when a witch-hunter finally catches the witch he's been chasing for years? Mokido plans to escape eventually, but accidentally being bonded to Kason by a goddess throws a wrench into his plans. However, side quests and danger leave them time to fall for each other, so that's not a bad thing.
From the blurb:
What's worse? Being a half-sprite witch accidentally and magically married to a witch-hunter, or having to go on a quest with your new husband to avoid the wrath of a pissed-off goddess?
Mokido is about to find out.
He and Kason have been playing a dangerous game of "capture the witch" for the last two years, and just when Mokido thought it was safe, he finds himself bound to Kason and on a journey he never asked for.
Add in love spells, a dying queen, and an impossible task, and the smartest thing to do would be to abandon Kason to his fate.
But no one ever accused Mokido of being smart.
SNik's review:
Standalone. Fantasy. Adversarial to lovers. Accidental marriage. Forced proximity. Slow burn/no burn. Quick read. Single POV.
Mokido is a half-sprite witch and he’s been playing a cat and mouse game with famous witch-hunter Kason for years. Kason and Mokido end up being accidentally tied together by a goddess and having a set of adventures that test their abilities and the newly acknowledged mutual attraction.
This story was a fun romp into a decently built fantasy world, with two likable characters and some action and danger along the way. Single POV stories are hard for me sometimes, but you do get a good sense of Kason’s feelings throughout, and the fact that he and Mokido have been harboring admiration which trails into romantic feelings was not hard to believe. I would have definitely read something longer about these two characters, there was certainly room to expand the world and supportive characters, but overall this was a really entertaining read.
