HOUNDING HANK is a demi romantic awakening small town romance. A dog groomer meets a caterer that wants to bake dog biscuits and finds he's falling for a man for the first time and embraces it.
From the blurb:
An unexpected love will soon be Hounding Hank...
Matchmaking Mamas helped my best friend, Maverick, and his rival neighbor find love. If they can help those two, it should be a piece of cake to find me a guy, right?
The dating pool of available men is small, but finally after weeks of waiting, the Mamas come through for me. Hank is sweet and charming via text, and we instantly connect over our love of dogs.
And when I lay eyes on him for our first date--holy heck, is he hot!
It seems like a perfect match.
Until Hank gets a look at me and just about swallows his tongue--and not in a good way.
Hank was expecting to meet a woman. Instead, he got me.
The Matchmaking Mamas have epically screwed the pooch, and left Hank and me to clean up the mess. But there's a friendship in the making that might be worth all the trouble--if I can just keep my inconvenient attraction under wraps.
I don't want to hound Hank about my unreciprocated feelings, but the closer we get, the more I start to wonder...
Could Hank still be my Prince Charming, or am I barking up the wrong tree?
Molly Otto's review:
These Matchmaking Mamas I'm not sure if they are great or just lucky in their skills at matchmaking. Hank moves to Granville to help his younger brother out of tough spot and cannot help but falling in love with its small-town charm, even if he's lightly forced into signing up with Matchmaking Mamas. When he is set up with Jamie, the connection through text is real, he can't help but think maybe they know what they're doing, well that is until he meets Jamie who is not if fact a women. Jamie a hopeless romantic after seeing Maverick find his perfect match signs up if they can do it again. When texting Hank he feels this man is his Prince Charming, too bad he's straight. What starts with awkward interactions turns into a real friendship. When Jamie is given another shot Hank must come to terms that maybe he's not as straight as he thought. This was a great demi romantic awakening in the easiness that these two allow each other to explore and deepen their bond. With a love for dogs by both men, you can't help but know they were made to be with each other. Adored Jamies relationship not only with Hank but Corey as well. He helps Corey open his eyes to see his potential and not to just settle with life as it is, and this gives him in turn the courage to begin the dog treat bakery he's always dreamed of having. Hanks undying support was beautiful to see and when he realized what he had with Jamie was more he went full in and never looked back. I am thoroughly enjoying this town and the people you meet along the way, a great low angst read when the mood strikes.
SNik's review:
Second in series (Matchmaking in Granville), can be read as a standalone. Small town. Found family. Demisexual representation. Slow burn. Dual POV.
Tired of hookups, Jamie is ready to find love and his match ends up being all kinds of perfect, except Hank was looking for a woman not a man. Hank is new to town and roped into the local matchmaking service, but when he finds out Jamie is a man his hopes are dashed, but he’s fine with finding a friend instead.
Both Hank and Jamie are likable characters, love dogs, have supportive friends and family, and fall into a close friendship. As Hank is determinedly straight, this has a slow build as his feelings for Jamie grow, extending beyond friendship and bringing attraction with it. The story delves into Hank and Jamie’s backgrounds quite a bit, but when they were on page together they had really sweet moments. A cute addition to this series with its second gfy trope.
