AROUND AND AROUND WE GO is a second chance romance of former lovers who meet again later. Bennett may be doing a documentary on the Trailblazer's hockey team, but really it's a chance to be close to Sandro again.
From the blurb:
When you’re facing The End, it’s time to rewind to the beginning.
At thirty-eight years old, Sandro Zanetti is quickly aging out of hockey. But the Trailblazers are chasing a history-making third consecutive championship this season, so until his knees fail him, he plans on giving his all to the sport.
What he doesn’t need is the documentary film crew following the team’s every move. Because the director? Is Bennett Jackson.
Former college sweetheart.
Breaker of hearts.
Still unbearably handsome.
But their relationship is also history and has been for fifteen years.
Bennett Jackson is one project away from the credits rolling on his career after his last film flopped. This behind-the-scenes look at the hottest team in the league is his last chance at redemption…and possibly his last chance at redeeming himself with the one man who’s always held his heart.
Neither of them planned for old jokes to resurface or on the inconvenient fact that their chemistry is very much alive.
But as the action heats up on and off the ice—and on and off camera—their reunion looks less like a rerun of heartbreak and more like a revival of that first chemistry.
And Sandro and Bennett may discover that some stories deserve a sequel.
Molly Otto's review:
Bennett under the pressure of his rookie season in the NHL makes the worse decision of his life and let's go of Sandro. Fifteen years later he comes back to Sandros life to do a documentary for the Trailblazers and show the world what makes this team so magical. Sandro nearing the end of his career knows retirement is on the horizon but doesn't know what he will do with his life post hockey. With Bennet coming back into his life, both men quickly realize maybe this is their second shot at making it work. Fifteen years may have passed but they still care for another deeply, and this time with real communication they can make this work out in the long run. When Sandro is asked to take on rookie Eli, he starts seeing their life isn't as easy as he once remembered. With this, him and the Trailblazers franchise team up to help the rookies acclimate to pro hockey and all that it entails. You feel the growth and change amongst the characters throughout and root for them all to find their way to find that right balance towards true happiness. The team dynamics and shenanigans are what makes this book truly sing, you feel their comradery and true love for one another.
SNik's review:
Second in series (Vermont Trailblazers), can be read as a standalone but might be more fun if read in order. Second chance. Mature characters. Close proximity. Found family. Slow burn. Dual POV.
Sandro’s champion hockey team is the subject of a documentary and the director happens to be the man who broke his heart more than fifteen years ago. Bennett knew being back in Sandro’s orbit would be hard, and he wants to apologize for leaving all those years ago, but doesn’t expect it to be easy.
Luckily both Bennett and Sandro are likable characters and the story really shows how deep their relationship used to be and how easily it is for them to fall into love again. The mistakes from their youth are not unforgivable, and even though Sandro is right to be angry towards Bennett he is able to overcome the hurt in order to have him back in his life. I enjoyed their slow reuniting, the real sense of family from the Trailblazers teammates, and how Bennett and Sandro were committed to a future together and not repeating the mistakes made when they were younger.
Heather's review:
This book was a lovely second chance romance that felt like they really were meant to get back together now that they are in better places... We learn a lot about the struggles Bennett went through that lead to their original break up and we see just how well they fit back in each other's lives now that Sandro's career is no longer his entire focus, and how Bennett's career is levelling up. It was lovely to see more of the Trailblazers team dynamic and the found family story running through the team. I can't wait to see more!
