A Cowboy Holiday by Lane Hayes; Narrated by Nick J. Russo

A new holiday novella from lane Hayes brought to life by Nick J. Russo. When a grumpy vet has no plans to stay, falling in love with the ranch owner makes his holiday plans change forever.

From the blurb:

The cowboy, the rancher, and a little holiday magic...

Tanner

I meet the grumpiest man on the planet, and I’m head over heels in lust. No joke. Oak Ridge Ranch’s new part-time-vet-slash-ranch-hand is a bear, and he’s built like one too. If I were smart, I’d keep my distance.

In a twist, I’m not so smart.

But I can tell that under his hard-as-nails exterior, the cowboy is a gentle giant. Axel is a devoted single dad, a dedicated vet, and…I think he likes me. Or he wants me.

I can work with that.

Axel

I need the job at the ranch through December; then I’m out of here. I have a kid to think of, and it’s time to settle old scores and build a new life. But Tanner complicates things. He’s smart, intuitive, charming, and—

Whoa! This is temporary. I’m not Tanner’s cowboy.

But I am attracted to him…and there’s nothing wrong with a little holiday fun, is there?

A Cowboy Holiday is an MM, bisexual romance featuring a single dad-cowboy-grump, a sweetheart of a rancher, and some holiday sparks.

SNik's review:

Audio. Standalone. Boss/employee. Single dad. Grumpy/sunshine. Mature characters. Dual POV.

Veterinarian and single dad Axel is just passing through California, he has plans to return to Texas to prove he made something of himself. Tanner hires Axel as a part-time vet, but knows the pitfalls of being attracted to an employee, even as he finds himself falling for the large, grumpy man.

Both Axel and Tanner are kind and hard-working, and both have life experiences that have shaped who they are. I really appreciated their different backgrounds and ability to come to a caring and meaningful relationship, especially as Tanner doesn’t pressure Axel to give up his plans and stay. With the sprinkle of holiday magic, supportive side characters, steamy interactions, and the sweetness of Axel’s daughter, I enjoyed this listen immensely.

The narration by Nick J. Russo made these characters especially endearing. The way he conveys their internal thoughts and honest communication I think made this story even more romantic.
