Under Gorse and Stone by Lily Morton

Something about Cornwall calls to Cary, little does he realize that it's where his fated dragon mate lives. An honorable sexy dragon and the human that really was meant to be by his side.

From the blurb:

Cary Sutton isn’t surprised when his boyfriend walks out on him during a holiday in Cornwall at Christmas. It’s far from the first time that someone's accused him of being cold—both inside and out. Cary’s spent his whole life feeling like he’s separated from the world by a sheet of glass. Nothing touches him. Nothing moves him.

Which is why it’s so strange to find himself drawn to a small Cornish beach and the man he meets there. Sigurd Arvesen is handsome and charming, but he also holds a secret—one that’s big enough to overturn Cary’s whole world.

Sigurd is a centuries-old dragon, and Cary is his mate.

Whisked into Sigurd’s magical world, Cary meets strange and wonderful creatures that he’s only ever read about in books. The mystical realm is both enchanting and dark, but even scarier are the warm feelings that Sigurd brings out in Cary.

What will happen when Christmas Eve dawns and Cary must go home?

From bestselling author Lily Morton comes a magical Christmas story about a lonely dragon and his one true love.

SNik's review:

Standalone. Paranormal fantasy. Fated mates. Single POV.

Left in Cornwall by his boss and new boyfriend, Cary decides to explore an inexplicable pull to a beach he’s never seen before except in his dreams and stumbling across a man named Sigurd. Drawn to Sigurd, Cary is able to see the magical world where dragons, mermaids and mythical beings live side by side with unaware humans.

This was a beautifully written story with magical wonders, likable main characters and interesting adventures jammed into a short period of time. What Cary doesn’t know is that he is Sigurd’s fated mate, and Sigurd is an honorable immortal dragon refusing to trap Cary unless he wants to stay. Sigurd is the quintessential cinnamon roll dragon that is sweet, protective and generous, while Cary is inquisitive, kind and thoughtful, and my favorite thing is he readily accepts everything Sigurd shows him in the magical realm. Some fun side characters, some Cornish and British mythology sprinkled throughout, and two main characters that really felt like they were meant to be together.
