Holiday Wishes and Tentacle Dreams (Tinsel and Tentacles 3.0) by J.B. Warrick

Holiday wishes & Tentacles Dreams is JB Warricks contribution to Tinsel & Tentacles Season 3.

From the blurb:

A summer tourist town in December might be the worst place in the world for Jake to end up after a breakup. Can one tentacled sea monster fulfill his lonely Christmas wish?

This is shaping up to be the worst Christmas of Jake’s life. After losing his job and his boyfriend, all he’s got left is a lease he can’t afford and a needy kitten.

In a fit of desperation, he sends a letter to Santa. He’s only got two things on his list: a new place to live, and someone who’ll love and support him no matter what.

Jake’s luck seems like it's changing for the better when his grandma offers up her beach house, but he didn’t consider how lonely the empty tourist town would be during the holiday.

Except for that one handsome surfer who keeps turning up outside his window…Who would be crazy enough to surf in the frigid Maine waters?

Doren hasn’t spoken to a human in hundreds of years, and likes it that way. It’s the safest thing for Doren’s family — after all, giant alien sea creatures aren’t meant to exist.

After accidentally being seen by an adorable human in a red plaid sweater, the smart thing would be to stay far away. So why does Doren keep taking human form and frolicking in the waves outside said human’s beach house?

And why is Doren so certain that a certain set of strong tentacles could hug Jake’s sadness away?

Holiday Wishes and Tentacle Dreams is a 50,000-word MX hurt/comfort, cozy, holiday monster romance with a guaranteed HEA and no cliffhanger. It contains a broken-hearted young man and the ancient tentacled alien who falls for him.

Molly Otto's review:

JB infused a heavier topic into the lightness of holiday paranormal fun. Jake is going through a lot in trying to find a balance between his depression and just moving forward from a low spot. Doren spots Jake on his favorite surfing spot and cannot help but be drawn to this beautiful human. I admire the brutal honesty of how much Jakes depression was a forefront part of this story and both parties understood this was not a fleeting thing but something you have to work with always. Doren's ray of sunshine outlook on life lent beautifully to Jakes more down-to-earth aesthetic. Both of their families play a huge part in who they are and how they cope with life. Jakes grandma is an amazing soul that you cannot help but wish was yours. Doren's family may be overprotective, but you can understand their motives and happy to see how accepting of Jake that they are once they get to know him and the pure light, he brings into Dorens world. Mix in some hot heat and you are in for a beautifully balanced read. JB did a beautiful job in bringing their own voice to this collaboration of unique authors. Now crossing fingers and toes there will be another season, so we get to see Bard have the courage to talk to Rex!
