I had only read Obey before and was eager to read the rest of the series. And with a box set narrated by Michael Dean, you can't go wrong.
I really liked the author's writing style. All of the stories revolve more or less around the kink club The Shepherd, are set in the Omegaverse, and each story is about a different couple. Nevertheless, I recommend reading the stories in order, as this may help you understand some of the characters' reactions better, simply because you have already gotten to know their story or heard something about their background.
Over 35 hours of Michael Dean were an absolute listening pleasure for me, as Michael managed to captivate me with his narration even over such a long period of time. He voices the characters very appropriately and, as always, conveys the emotions superbly. He jumps effortlessly from the dominant alpha to the obedient omega.
The stories are quite different, but all of them are entertaining. Some are less dramatic, while others are emotionally charged, so there should be something for everyone.
The themes are very diverse, ranging from abuse, unwanted pregnancy, healing, pain, and fear to joy and love. Some stories are more touching than others, and I warmed to some characters more quickly than others. The characters were mostly created to be multi-layered, and with the exception of one main character, I found them all very likeable.
But overall, all the stories were entertaining, engaging, emotional, and sometimes quite hot. My favorite couple was Oliver and Marshall in Breathe.
