The next entry into the FISA Agents series. Surviving an injection of liquid onyx is only one of Agent Leo Snow's problems. Now he has to keep his boyfriend and fellow agent from killing his brother who is back from the dead and possibly leading them into another trap. Can they survive another confrontation with the evil Obsidian Inc.?
From the blurb:
Blood exposed to oxygen absorbs all light and reflects only darkness.
Past
When Rohan Sathe escapes his brutal existence as Ian Stone’s son and heir, he vows to destroy all that his father has built. But after he meets Aaron North, his life changes in ways he never could have imagined and he begins to want things for himself that have nothing to do with vengeance.
Present
Following a near fatal attack, Leo Snow finds himself transformed in a life altering way, and after recent revelations, Jack Roth is struggling to hold himself together. Unfortunately, they don’t have much time to get a handle on anything, because there are bigger games at play and higher stakes than ever before. Jack and Leo have no choice other than to band together with their allies and put everything on the line to defeat their powerful enemies.
SNik's review:
Third in series (FISA Agents), must be read in order. Sci-fi. Established couple work partners. New couple work boss/employee age gap. Multiple POV’s.
Set immediately after the last book, Leo is recovering under Jack’s protective watch as they move forward with looking for OI’s deadly gas distribution machine with possible help from Jack’s resurrected brainwashed brother. In parallel we get flashbacks of Rohan and his handler Aaron showing Rohan’s backstory in becoming a FISA agent and his growing relationship with Aaron.
I am still seriously invested in this series' storyline, as long as I get more of Jack and Leo being absolutely connected and in love as they face whatever the bad guys throw at them. Delving into Rohan’s past, his horrible father and experiments, as well as his attraction to Aaron was a nice addition to the story. The possibility of the mind control gas being distributed or even that the agents have to watch their backs from those around them kept the intensity and threat of danger high. I do wish we had the solution to the mind control so it doesn’t keep popping up for the good guys, but maybe in the next book (finale?).
