A HIGHLAND GARGOYLES LUCKY STAR pairs Chloe Archer's writing with Gary Furlong's narration.
From the blurb:
A gargoyle hotter than Goliath (IYKYK) meets a human bad-luck magnet whose rare power attracts danger like catnip to cats. Will it be destiny or disaster?
Noah Price
When a mysterious stranger in a magic shop pulls the Star card for me, I take it as a sign from the universe. Scotland, here I come! Outlander vibes? Check. Highlander daydreams? You bet. My expectations are nothing but epic.
What I don’t expect? Danger, near-death experiences, and being saved by a literal freaking gargoyle in a kilt. Okay, maybe that last bit’s kind of epic.
Enter Elryk DarkWing: grumpy, growly, and so hot he might make me spontaneously combust. Swoon levels: critical.
Turns out, I’ve got a magical ability people are willing to kill for, and Elryk is the only one who can keep me safe. But even with danger all around us, the real risk might be falling for someone who sees fated mates as fairy tales—and love as a luxury neither of us can afford.
Elryk DarkWing
Protecting Scotland’s ley lines is a deadly duty passed down through generations of my clan. I didn’t choose it—but I’ve made peace with it. Monsters and mayhem are just part of the job. But I never expected my greatest challenge to be a courageous but rather reckless human with a smile that could melt even my heart of stone.
Noah’s arrival sets off every internal alarm I have. He’s sassy, stubborn, and entirely too soft—but somehow he’s exactly what I never knew I was missing.
I should push him away. It’d be safer for both of us.
But forces I can’t comprehend delivered him into my arms—and now I’ll be damned if I ever let him go.
A Highland Gargoyle’s Lucky Star is the first book (72k) in the DarkWing Clan series, a spin-off set in the Monsters Hollow universe, featuring a warrior gargoyle clan in Scotland.
Molly Otto's review:
Chloe had paired with Gary Furlong for this audiobook and dang a match made in Scotish heaven! Gary nails the entire cast spectacularly making a fun book even better! I hope to see more of this author/narrator in the future!

This time, we get to head to Scotland and the DarkWing Castle. You may remember hearing of Elyrk in the Gargoyle and His Romance Writer of his older brother Elryk. Now it's his turn to get his fated mate in the amazingly bubbly Noah. be prepared for all the movie and TV references their are a lot, and they make his personality all the more loveable. The action is nonstop, leaving you to wonder how this will all play out in the end. As with all Chloe reads now, a certain best friend and loyal legend need their stories as well. Hint hint nudge nudge. I will read those immediately!
SNik's review:
Audio. First in series (Dark Wing Clan) a spin-off from the Monster Hollow series. Paranormal. Fated mates. Opposites attract. Found family. Dual POV.
Noah can’t seem to be rid of his bad luck, so when a tarot card reading prompts him he decides to pursue his bucket list item and travel to Scotland. Elryk is a guardian gargoyle for his clan that finds not only is Noah a special magical conduit, but also his fated mate and together maybe they can protect each other and find love in their destined pairing.
Really an adventure full of action, movie, TV and song references, two super likable characters, and a found family for them both. This story had me smiling as Noah is a friendly, fierce and optimistic counterbalance to Elryk’s serious, protective, pessimistic attitude. The humor, the spice, the sweet characters, the world building made this a thoroughly entertaining story that will keep you turning the pages and rooting for Elryk and Noah’s HEA.
Gary Furlong’s narration was peak chef’s kiss. He is so expressive with Elryk and Noah’s feelings coming through in every way, and also brings the humor that had me laughing out loud at times.
Lesetiger's review:
The author has done it again: she has written an interesting and entertaining story. Noah is obviously plagued by misfortune, but that doesn't detract from his sunny personality. He is a real ray of sunshine who never lets himself get down and who you just have to love. He is cheerful and friendly, very optimistic despite everything, and very courageous. After laying out tarot cards, he decides to travel to Scotland. The journey alone is already adventurous and, as we have come to expect from the author, the story is written with humor—I found myself smiling often.
Noah soon meets the grumpy Elryk, a guardian gargoyle of his clan. He quickly realizes that Noah is his fated mate, whom he intends to protect. Danger threatens the clan, but with Noah there is a glimmer of hope. Elyrik is the exact opposite of Noah; he is very serious and rather pessimistic. But together they make a very lovable couple.

The fantasy world and all its inhabitants are wonderfully and creatively designed. Another plus is the references to well-known films and series.
The story also captivates with adventure, action, and wonderful protagonists.
Gary Furlong was awesome as always. The way he brought Noah and Elryk to life was just absolutely fantastic. He gave each character a distinctive voice and made the story very easy to follow. I can recommend the audiobook to everyone, because it makes the already entertaining story even better!
