The Hot Chocolate Hoax (Sweet Deceit Book 1) by E.J. Stoll

Covey and Aidan's story is full of sweetness and chaos. This book was cute, EJ Stoll is a new-to-me author so I'm not familiar with their writing, but I thought this was good!

From the blurb:

Moving back home to join the Green Mountain Ballet Company came with numerous perks. Better pay, bigger roles, and the chance to dance on the same stage where I first fell in love with ballet. It has a few notable drawbacks as well, like my family's interference in my personal life. When my mom won't stop pestering me about dating, I do the only rational thing: invent a boyfriend.

The problem with fake boyfriends is that they're not real, which means bringing them to a holiday function is a challenge. Enter my childhood best friend, Aidan. We might not be close anymore, but that doesn't stop us from hatching a plan. We'll pretend to date through New Year's to keep everyone happy. Once the holidays and Nutcracker season are over, we can break up (and remain friends, of course).

It's a foolproof plan, so why does it feel like I'm ruining everything?

Angel's review:

Covey definitely gives off chaotic energy, he reminds me of a chaotic energizer bunny. He's incredibly passionate about dancing and while most might assume he doesn't take things seriously, the fact is that he does. When he came up with the fake dating scheme he didn't know it would bring his childhood best friend back into his life... Or that his 'fake' relationship would turn into a real one.

Covey is the chaotic one while in contrast Aidan is the more calmer level headed one. He's a kindergarten teacher so thankfully he's used to chaos, he also has past experience with dealing with Covey's spontaneous ideas... He just never thought he would end up fake dating his childhood best friend.

I was craving a bit more depth with the relationship development between Aidan and Covey, but I did still enjoy this as is. I loved how their careers were showcased, it wasn't just a casual mention, there were several chapters depicting each of their jobs which I liked!

While this does take place during the holidays, it isn't an overtly holiday heavy book. So if that's something that was stopping you, now you know differently. All in all, a very cute and sweet book!

Also, if anyone wants to buy ME fancy hot chocolate, I wouldn't say no! Haha
