THE HOLIDAY EXCHANGE is a small town twins ex boyfriend holiday novella. This is full of all those feel good, cozy, Christmas Hallmark movie vibes, even better than a Hallmark movie!
From the blurb:
Dawson
I have the most ridiculous crush on Briar, a customer who frequents my café. We never run out of things to talk about, and I find myself looking forward to his visits.
Just when I’m about to ask him on a date, he shows up at Sip and Savor with none other than my twin, who beat me to the punch. Definitely not how I hoped things would go.
Except my brother isn’t the settling-down type, so three months into dating Briar, he chooses the worst time to dump him—right before Christmas and straight after Briar asks Nathan to accompany him home for the holidays.
As I try to console Briar, he surprises me by cooking up a plot straight out of the movies, where I go home to Maine with him, pretending to be his boyfriend.
It’s supposed to be a friendly favor, I get a trip to the perfect Christmas town, and Briar can save face with his family and childhood ex. Only just like back in Boston, we have fun together, get each other, and I swear the spark I always felt between us grows.
But how does a guy tell his twin’s ex that he’s had feelings for him all along? And can what starts out as a holiday exchange turn into the perfect happily ever after?
Molly Otto's review:
Ugh just what I needed to kick off the holiday reading season! This is a perfect short and sweet romance. When Briar is dumped by Nathan, his twin Dawson, who liked his first, offers to take his place for the holidays. What works so great is it allows Briar & Dawson to see how right they are as a couple before they even have a chance to try.
This is one of those happy quick reads of a small town romance where you feel the joys of the holiday in their visit. You can feel the towns love for their home and its residents. Do I wish it was longer? Yes, I wanted to see more of them together because they just match each other beautifully and would have been fun to see.
Angel's review:
Dawson and Briar's story is slightly unconventional seeing as how Briar's ex is Dawson's twin. However, the way this is written, everything just makes sense.
Dawson has been crushing on Briar ever since the man walked into his smoothie shop, but unfortunately his twin brother asked out the man of his desires before he could... He knows his brother isn't into settling down but he isn't going to interfere even though his heart is breaking. But then... He gets the Hallmark Christmas of his dreams! He not only gets the quaint holiday small town, but he also gets the man who captured his heart.
This story is honestly adorable! Briar and Dawson's story features; fake dating, friends to lovers, only one bed, Christmas magic, and all the joys that come with living in a small town. I liked reading this story, it made me smile and definitely got me in the holiday spirit. I absolutely adore that the majority of this book took place on a Christmas Tree Farm, that's such a great place setting! After all, what's more Christmas-y than a Christmas Tree Farm??
I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Dawson and Briar, if you're looking for a short read to get you in the holiday spirit I highly recommend reading this book.
Heather's Review:
It's beginning to look like holiday reading season and what a way to start things off! I love holiday novella season and we get so much sweet holiday goodness with this fake dating, brother's former boyfriend, small town story! As with anything these two write, I wish it were longer, just so we could keep seeing Briar and Dawson, but it really was the perfect story with a sweet HEA and just a touch of angst about starting out their holiday with a lie that became the truth,,,
